The Three Stags Head has to have the best Chritmas Fayre meal in Derbyshire. Went there yesterday with family and it was excellent. Many thanks to Owen and Andy and staff.

The Church Inn

This is a cosy little traditional pub, close to the Peak Rail heritage railway line. There are three separate unpretentious rooms each with its own distinct character. This is a proper pub which serves food, rather than a restaurant which sells beer. There is no food Mondays and Tuesdays, although the pub is open seven days a week. Ales on offer at the time of our visit were Landlord and Bass - personally I would like to have seen something from a smaller, local brewery. You wouldn't come here for a romantic meal but there is a nice, changing menu on a blackboard, featuring home cooked food, mainly fairly straightforward wholesome dishes with generous portions. Staff are friendly and welcoming and service is good and there is a nice mix of locals and visitors to the area.

Lovely little cafe with a massive menu!
Had a lovely walk in the park which has two ponds and a nice play area down the bottom, nice as a stop off onto Matlock.

We, a couple, had Sunday lunch on 7th December. Classy venue and décor. Good atmosphere, thankfully no pipe music but gently babble of other diners’ chatter. Warm welcome, efficiency and courteous service. Excellent counterbalance to a miserable day weatherwise. Balanced menu of Sunday roast that also included fish and vegetarian options. Buffet style of service for the roast suits us, we can select our choice of meat and veg and manage quantities. Well prepared and cooked food, roasted root veg, cauliflower cheese and with some nice little additions – pigs in blankets, stuffing, crackling. Punctual but unhurried service. Good value for money. \n\nA thoroughly enjoyable meal.
