Outstanding. At last a New Forest pub with an interesting menu using local ingredients and produce. Highly recommended, delicious food, great beer (including well kept Timothy Taylor’s Landlord..) and wine, and excellent friendly service. (Now sadly closed. 3/7/23)
We have wanted to try the lamb since it had changed hands recently. And it did not disappoint. We had the crispy duck and mussels from the tapas menu and they were delicious. Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting a lovely lunch.

Lovely spot for a bit of lunch and a pint. A proper old boy's place but with the right level of charm and atmosphere inside to make it an enjoyable lunchtime experience.On a sunny day like yesterday, take your food and drinks into the peaceful area round the back and enjoy the nice, open, green garden space.I'd recommend the schnitzel for a naughty treat. Amazing peppercorn sauce, sauerkraut, and sweet potato mash!
