Honestly could not recommend this pub highly enough. We've just had my husbands 60th Birthday here with 18 guests and the food was absolutely amazing, the service was outstanding and everyone throughly enjoyed themselves. We had a lot of family who have travelled a long way to be with us and every one of them loved it. Lovely lovely place ?

Gemcafe

Not sure when you were last here last review Dawson but we took over 3 weeks ago - the whole place has been deep cleaned - full professional paint job and all new lights equipment from kitchen to customer use and cleaned properly everyday now

Toshach cafe

We recently had a buffet for our little boys christening. The food was lovely and fresh and you could tell it was all homemade eg pies, quiche. The buffet was very reasonably priced and everything was delivered and set up lovely. Thank you.

Shell's village bakery

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Shell's Village Bakery in Ferryhill, County Durham, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! This charming bakery not only serves delicious hot food to locals but also offers exceptional cold buffets for events.

I got a healthy lunch with rice, chickpeas, quinoa, veg with chana massala & barjis.

The White Horse

Been a long time since I have been in here, I prefer to stay in now rather than go out on the drink. But... I really enjoyed my night in here, music was great with dance and lights. Iv always thought Ferryhill people are quite welcoming to outsiders. It's reasonably cheap and staff are polite.

Oriental Palace

Delivered quickly, with some free food because of the order value. Very reasonable cost. The food was very tasty, I'll be back for more. The udon was my favourite!

A1 Chinese Chop Suey House

Always amazing, very polite staff, always a pleasant experience. I usually order curry and rice (pretty basic I know) but the curry hasn’t got that weird sweetness, everything is cooked fresh to order and honestly that’s a flex. They don’t take card payments which is a shame, but in such a little village it’s not really a problem.

Can't fault IKITCHEN they are always pleasant and very friendly the meals are always brilliant we order from here regularly and never been disappointed, we get our meals delivered to Spennymoor and never had too long a wait definitely 5 stars.

The Golden Gate

I absolutely love coming here for my weekly treat. Food always freshly cooked and amazing taste. Chicken chow mein is amazing quality and the crispy shredded chicken/beef is mouth watering. Peter and the gang are all lovely and the takeaway is always clean. No complaints and I hope you are around for a long time to fulfil my chinese takeaway cravings. ??

The Aviator Bistro

We visited this place to alleviate my fascination with planes even though pn the day there was no flying because of poor weather conditions.
The Aviator is located next to the air side, so there should be a good view of air traffic on a good day. The building is fairly modern, and well thought out inside. It's a bit smaller than I expected from the photos I saw beforehand, and it could do with a bit of a refresh of the decor where the cheap laminate flooring has worn or lifted, for example.
There are plenty of staff on hand, standing around looking for things to do when they don't have any direct customers to serve. Unfortunately, most of them lack experience and don't offer a friendly, hospitable service, being school kids or post-schoolers on their first jobs.
We were disappointed that we missed breakfasts: they were advertised on the website but when we arrived we found out that they are only available until 11.30 (12pm on Sundays). This could usefully be mentioned on the website.
The main meals and the drinks are quite pricey, in my view: £3 for a small pot of tea for one is quite high, considering a teabag costs a few pence. Mains average about £12-£14. Although, I was a bit surprised that the halloumi burger cost £2 more than the classic beef burger - I can't understand this price differential.
Anyway, they are all the negative points. On the positive side, the food was really well cooked and adequately portioned when it arrived. We were surprised that the classic beef burger came with two large meaty patties. The halloumi burger came with breaded fingers of the cheese but seemed a lot smaller that the beef burger in size, somehow. The chips were well cooked and on the beef burger dish, there were plenty of them.
The burgers were served on a metal tray, lined with a paper tray cover, which gets soggy and disintegrates during the meal. Personally, I would prefer it to be served on a plate without the flammery.
Overall, we liked this venue. There are opportunities for improvement but overall we thought it was interesting. I would like to return when the breakfast is available to see if that is better value for money. I think the pricing is a little off for the drinks and general menu, but if that doesn't bother you too much, you know you will get a decent meal here.

Vegetarian options: The halloumi burger offers breaded halloumi fingers stacked in a burger bun with hot spicy sauce and salad. For some reason they have this priced at £14, which is £2 more than the classic beef burger while its portion size is smaller. I can't quite fathom why this is the case as halloumi is not known to be more expensive than beef, especially considering the size of the beef patties used for the beef burger.

Parking: Free and easy to use parking directly outside the building, including opportunities to park for disabled users.

The Chippy

Friendly,clean environment,lovely fish and chips was lush garlic was nice but only thing garlic dip should change to home made would be even better ,my child enjoyed his sausage and chips he ate it all up and enjoyed it too thanksKid-friendliness: Has sweets for the kids to get and meal deals for the kids

Very attentive staff, fantastic customer service and amazing food, always happy to take allergies or preferences into consideration and foods always cooked perfectly.

Starbucks Coffee

A chain coffee shop you know what you are going to get. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The cafe was clean, tidy well maintained the drinks were made how we both liked

Subway

An unfortunate layout of the services means that you'll probably have to queue outside for a while due to Covid restrictions. Friendly staff, always a good sarnie from here.

Bob's Pizza

Shop now has new, certified staff. Inside was very clean. Very friendly staff. Ordered a pizza. Had enjoyable conversations with everyone while I waited. The pizza itself was still hot when I got home. Very tasty and not greasy unlike a lot of takeaways I've had. The garlic sauce I got for dipping was surprisingly thick & creamy. Best I've had in a long while. The garlic was not overpowering. Very enjoyable. Will definitely be ordering again.Kid-friendliness: Staff were amazing with children ordering. Very patient and don't speak down.Parking: Plenty of parking outside of the premises.

Pizza Time

Most of my order was wrong but when I rang up you apologised and sent another out within 40mins-which isn't bad considering it's a Friday night. This one was perfect the salad was fresh, the meat was done lovely and I really enjoyed the meal. Most pizza shops wouldn't even bother sending another, or say they will refund you but then don't. Thanks for the good service I'll definitely be recommending
