It was mid afternoon so how much atmosphere can there be? I have a specific diet and they managed it, so I'm happy to eat here. The waiters are attentive and the bar staff knowledgeable on their beers and cider. The pub was warm and the decorations created a comfortable atmosphere. Just popped in here last minute for a drink and a spot of lunch and have to say all three of us really enjoyed it, very welcoming and friendly. Our lunches of soup, Welsh rarebit and Gammon ham ciabatta were all well portioned and tasty. Have been here many times over the years and happy to say it’s still a very charming and characteristic old pub.

Great value for money, nice atmosphere, love a buzzing, popular pub (especially for a Thursday night in Eastbourne) food very good and tasty but more importantly I was very impressed with the friendly attentive staff. Keep up your cheerful and hardworking aptitude!
