We went for a family January lunch post-Christmas, and we all agreed that it was one of the best pub lunches we'd all had. Even their onion chutney (with the lovely slab of chicken liver pate) was superb, and the pulled pork burger was - like everything else - just that bit better than everywhere else (it was nice and 5-spicy).
Visited Lewes this weekend and had our first lunch in this original pub.The cute snug areas downstairs were all occupied but fortunately we were given a table in ghe upstairs dining room.We decided on a light lunch. I had a toasted cheese & chutney ciabatta and my partner had the steak sandwich. Both were very tasty and filling.The family at the table nearby all ordered burgers, and I was instantly jealous. This is a cosy pub with a lovely character. It was fairly busy when I visited, so seating was limited, but there are more areas available upstairs. There was a reasonable selection of beers at the bar, with two or three Harvey's options, of course! It is a pleasant place to meet others and / or have a couple of beers.
