Shelley Kebab and Pizza House

Smith's of Ongar
Fyfield Rd, Chipping Ongar, OngarWe’ve used Smith’s several times before and the food has always been excellent. Good value too, if you can stick to the lunchtime set menu. Service is efficient and friendly. The acoustics are a bit odd: in some parts of the restaurant you can converse easily; in others it’s a struggle. On this occasion our foursome sat next to a very noisy party of eight, which made our own conversation difficult and seemed quite incongruous in this venue.

162 High St, Chipping Ongar, OngarFood was lovely, service was amazing, music was too loud but we were placed in the corner where the speakers were situated so is what it is, but overall a lovely meal and would go again. 12.5% service charge a bit steep but not the end of the world.Parking: Used the car park a few meters down the road near the library, free after 6pm

Brentwood Rd, OngarAmazing pub, We booked for our annual family Christmas meal 20+ of us including children. The owners and staff could not do more for you, the food and service was amazing. We have an individual who is gluten free and another vegetarian who they happily catered. Even offered food not being served that day. I can’t thank you all enough for a lovely day and being able to relax and enjoy our meals.

Forresters Arms Ongar
The St, OngarI recently visited the forresters arms ,I had a very nice experience. A perfect little country club with a nice atmosphere with a public bar area and ace saloon dining area. Very nice. I would recommend a visit.

The Woodman
155 London Rd, Stanford Rivers, OngarThoroughly recommended. Latest visit was a family lunch for six on Good Friday. Friendly atmosphere, friendly professional team, great service, good food, beer Battered Cod, Peas and Chips was fantastic. We like this pub all year round, it has a small terrace and a large garden with a lot of tables and nice view over a pretty paddock and fields.

Sanuk Thai, 38 The St, OngarThis is the first time that me and my daughter have ever been to SANUK THAI in Ongar. What a beautiful rare gem this place is. The customer service was great, our waiter was very kind, and polite and helped us pick out the best food for us. The food was great especially the TOM KHA SOUP 10/10 I will definitely be having this soup again it was out of this world. Me and my daughter were treated really well. We will definitely be going again. Thank you Sanak Thai for giving us the most amazing food and customer service ?Parking: Me and my daughter came in an Uber and left in a cab. It was very hard to get a cab from there. Next time I will be driving there.

The Mogul Restaurant
165 High St, Chipping Ongar, OngarHad another wonderful meal at The Mogul last night. Introduced our 2 friends to this restaurant and they were very impressed. Staff know every ingredient in the dish and can explain exactly how it’s cooked. Did not rush us from our table. Perfectly handled our allergy requests and even sourced non alcoholic beer!! Cannot wait to return. Best Indian restaurant in Essex.

177 High St, Chipping Ongar, OngarSo we didn’t have the best experience at lunch after an hour wait, some meals were barely warm. HOWEVER, the taste was good and the staff remained warm and pro. A chef down was the reason so understandable, two mains were taken off the bill which was appreciated. Sometimes when businesses aren’t having a good day it’s more important that it’s made right. And it was. 10/10.

194 High St, Chipping Ongar, OngarVery good Chinese. Fresh, hot and tasty. Decent portions and big pieces of chicken compared to lots of others where I used to live. Must have tried over 12 when we lived in London and this is easily in top 2! Cheaper too ?
