162 High St, Chipping Ongar, OngarWe live locally and try to support local businesses. The Porterhouse has been an excellent addition to the area and its no surprise why it has stood the test of time and is always busy.
We chose this for my birthday celebrations and had a wonderful meal, with great service and ambience.
The food was too delicious to waste and they supplied a box to bring the rest of it home.
Highly recommend for drinks with friends or a lovely meal out.

Mediterranean Twist, 38 The St, OngarWhat a brilliant Thai restaurant! If you're looking for a delicious, authentic and incredibly tasty Thai then you must give this place a try. We've just been to celebrate our mum's 60th birthday and the staff could not have been more friendly. They were so accommodating, attentive and even serenaded our mum with a guitar as the cake was brought out. Such a special moment that brought her to tears. Having been to thailand on holiday and loved the freshness of the food, this certainly brought back many happy memories - particularly the curries - you must give them a try. Thanks so much. Id highly recommend.

The Stag
Brentwood Rd, OngarOnce again the Stag excels itself with their wonderful food. We opted for the 3 course Mexican menu and were not disappointed. The food was Michelin star standard. The chef is highly talented and the staff are very friendly and hard working. We look forward to eating and drinking at the Stag again. Highly recommend everything on their menu.

Shelley Kebab and Pizza House
20 St Peter's Ave, Chipping Ongar, OngarAnother fabulous takeaway. I love the lamb shish, the lamb is always beautifully tender. Husband has the combo wrap which looks delicious and is massive. The chilli sauce is always perfect. Had food from here dozens of times and the quality is always consistently good. Best kebab shop around!

Forresters Arms Ongar
The St, OngarThe was not a planned visit, we do not live locally, but from the moment we arrived we were made to feel like old friends. Sarah was so kind and spent time talking to us. Locals arrived whilst we were having our drink and we could tell that everyone would be treated like family. If we could of stayed longer we would have. We did not sample any food because they were having refurbishments, but we would definitely go back. Even customers enjoying the sunshine outside made us feel welcome. Overall, we say Sarah is a credit to the team.

Nerissa and Claire's Coffee Bar and Restaurant
Budworth Hall, High St, OngarI came in at lunch to get a jacket cheese and beans to takeaway.
They were super efficient, and the food was well prepared and packed. The price was good as the jacket also came with a side of dressed salad and homemade coleslaw, which was delish! The portions were also really good.
When getting home, I also realised they had provided a packet with cutlery, little packs of proper butter, salt, pepper, and mayo! Such a good complimentary condiment selection!
Really yummy and will 100% be coming back.

The Mogul Restaurant
165 High St, Chipping Ongar, OngarWe held our pre wedding dinner at the mogul with our closest friends and family. Johnny and team were SO helpful, Jonnys ideas and advice was so helpful and the tasting menu a really nice evening to be able to get a better idea. We had canapés, starters and sharing mains (which were all really tasty) with drinks all we felt reasonably priced. Jonnys wife even did a beautiful surprise tablescape for us with flowers in the centre and chocolates in birdcages! The staff on the day were so helpful and everything ran smoothly! We have been going to the mogul since it opened and will continue to be our favourite Indian!

190 High St, Chipping Ongar, OngarAmazing food! The kebabs were super tasty and the portions were spot on. The new sauces taste even better than before. Delivery was a bit slow, but totally understandable since Pepper Ongar Kebab is always busy. Keep it up, boys — the new team is smashing it!
