72 High St, IngatestoneFor 36 years, Nirvana Indian Restaurant has been a truly special place in my life. I first started coming here when I was 14years old with my mum and now I go with my children. Having just celebrated my 50th birthday here with my family, it felt like the perfect moment to reflect on just how much this restaurant means to us.
There are so many wonderful things I could say about Nirvana. The service has always been exceptional — warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly to everyone who walks through the door. The staff make you feel like more than just customers; they make you feel part of the family. Whether we’re dining in or I’m simply collecting a takeaway, I always look forward to the conversations and friendly atmosphere.
The food has consistently been outstanding over the years. Every dish is beautifully prepared and full of flavour, and the quality never wavers. One of my favourite memories is from when my wife and I first met. I had always loved Indian food, but she never really enjoyed it — until we visited Nirvana and she tried the Balti Vegetable Bongow. Ever since then, Indian food has become a weekly treat for us, and remarkably, Nirvana is still the only Indian restaurant she truly loves.
We’ve tried Indian restaurants in other parts of the country while travelling, but nothing ever compares. Every time, she leaves disappointed because nowhere else quite captures the same quality, flavour, and care that Nirvana delivers so effortlessly. That says everything about how special this restaurant really is.
Nirvana isn’t just a restaurant to us — it’s a place filled with memories, warmth, and genuinely lovely people. If you’re anywhere near the area and looking for delicious Indian food, outstanding service, and a truly friendly atmosphere, I honestly cannot recommend Nirvana highly enough. You will not be disappointed.

The Viper Mill Green
The Viper, Mill Green Rd, Mill Green, IngatestoneGreat little pub. Perfect for dropping by if walking, for refreshments or lunch/dinner. We sat outside in the garden. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. Staff very friendly. Dog friendly too with water bowls for furry friends. A great find. We’ll definitely be back.

What a lovely afternoon,
The restaurant was very clean.The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
We were given a variety of finger sandwiches with a selection of different fillings.
We were even offered more sandwiches once we had eaten.
An excellent well presented selection of cakes together with plain and fruit scones with jam and clotted cream.
They even wrote “Happy Birthday” in chocolate on one of the plates on the cake stand ❤️
Unlimited teas and coffees.
Excellent value for money.
Couldn’t fault it and would thoroughly recommend.
We will definitely be returning,

The Lounge Wine bar
40 High St, IngatestoneSuch a lovely spot with a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re popping in for a coffee, drinks or food, it always feels cosy and lively without being too busy. The food is consistently amazing, the wine and coffee selection is great and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Every customer is always in safe hands with Lindsay, Lyla and Liz. It’s the kind of place you end up staying longer than planned because the whole vibe is just so nice. Definitely one of the best local places to catch up with friends or enjoy a chilled evening.

16 The Square, Stock, IngatestoneThe food was delicious, unfortunately sat next to the door so lots of cold was coming in as people were coming and going. May be a better space for a smaller group of people so no one is sat at the doorway. Would definitely go back, just ask for a better spot if it's a large group again.

The Star Inn
45 High St, IngatestoneThe food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The garden area is lovely, perfect for enjoying a sunny day, though seating is limited, so it can be hard to get a spot when the weather’s nice. The view of the nearby church was also very nice .
Service was a bit hit-or-miss, mostly due to younger staff who seemed a little inexperienced … a few small things were forgotten, but nothing that spoiled the overall meal.
Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and the setting. Would definitely come back!

Dandelion Coffee Shop
20 The Square, Stock, Ingatestonewent there a couple days ago for breakfast the staff and drinks were on par the dnb breakfast was delicious,however my nephew of 6 years old was being nosy as kids are and overheard the people behind us talking about leaving “poo” pants in the bin my nephew as curious as toddlers are checked and thinking it was funny pulled out a pair of black pants out of the bin and to my surprise they were covered in faeces as me and my wife was lecturing him not to do said actions we discover this substance over his hands we then put the pants where we found them washed his hands and called it a day not to outshine the service and food it was great and i’d go there again

The Bell
The Bell, 55 High St, IngatestoneWe had a really lovely lunch yesterday with our non verbal son. We had such a warm welcome and so did our son with other members of the public making a point to say hello to him it was really amazing we felt at ease our son could happily stimmer and make his sounds while nobody stared or gave any funny looks.we just had smiles from the bar ladies so thank you. The lunch was superb we both had a chicken and bacon sandwich the food was really fresh and warm. We can’t wait to come back with our daughter.

Greenwoods Hotel, Stock, IngatestoneThis is in the Greenwoids hotel and spa, but i believe you can go and eat there? The food was lovely and i had the best sticky toffee pudding i have ever had, and ive had a few! The portions were a good size and delicious. Staff were lovely too. Thank you for being part if our lovely day. They do a wonderful sfternoon tea too.

The Old Kings Head
Stock Rd, Stock, IngatestoneWe have driven past so many times, but decided the sun was out, let’s walk here from Billericay. A really good call as it’s a great pub and restaurant. As usual, it’s the staff that make a place, they are truly lovely. Not tried the food yet, but will be back to do so, soon. Secret advantage is that the bus stop back to Billericay is right outside! Trust me, well worth a visit!

The Cricketers, Mill Green
Mill Green Rd, IngatestoneFirst visit here but definitely not the last, lovely pub in a lovely area.
The food was excellent and was served by a young lady called Isobel who was extremely polite and helpful.
My wife is coeliac and so requires a gluten free diet they had a few dishes but could expand their gluten free options, will definitely be returning
