Here a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch (you need you book!!!) They only do Roasts on a Sunday which comes in 3 sizes Small/Large) and Huge. Much to my wife's delight we discovered the Beef was rare and on arrival it was was a thick slice covering half the plate. Tends to get very busy here not just with people eating but also with locals gathered around the bar. We came back later in the week for their baguettes which are great value.
Sunday lunch on a hot September day. Excellent a proper “ home cooked “ dinner. Staff were very friendly food was great and Mersea Island is a great place to visit. It’s only a roast on Sunday but when it’s as good as this you don’t need a choice. There was a vegetarian option.

Loved the friendly vibe I felt as soon as I walked in & that gorgeous dog Mowgli I met there!!I ordered the veggie burger and my goodness it was the right amount of spicy and juicy crispiness!The best thing was the chips!!Extra crispy and fluffy in the middle!! Love!!
