The Southwark Tavern
22 Southwark St, Greater, LondonI recently visited Southwark Tavern and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we felt well taken care of throughout our meal.
The menu offered a great variety of options, and everything we ordered was delicious. The highlight for me was the beautifully cooked fish and chips—crispy batter and perfectly flaky fish. The selection of craft beers was also impressive, complementing our meal perfectly.
The pub's charming decor adds to its character, and it’s a great place for both casual dining and special occasions. Overall, Southwark Tavern exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

Strada Southbank
A, Royal Festival Hall, 337-338 Belvedere Rd, London⸻
New Year’s Eve: Good Food, Poor Organisation
We chose to spend New Year’s Eve at this restaurant despite being undecided, as reviews were mixed. Ultimately, we went ahead mainly for the convenience and the views.
The set menu was priced at £200 per person and included a cheese and charcuterie board as a pre-starter, followed by a starter, main course, dessert, and one glass of Prosecco. We were required to select our menu choices more than a week in advance; however, the dishes served on the night differed slightly from the options we had originally been given.
On the day of the event, I received a call from the restaurant asking me to collect wristbands that they believed they had already emailed me about—which they had not. They then said they would email us tickets to access the South Bank area, but failed to explain which route we should take. With many roads closed due to New Year’s Eve restrictions, even the police and event staff in the area were unsure where we were supposed to go. As a result, our family ended up walking for 1 hour and 40 minutes for what should have been a 30-minute journey. My parents are 70 years old, which made this especially frustrating and exhausting.
Once inside the restaurant, the experience was much more positive. Service was attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed but lively, with a good buzz—mostly families celebrating New Year’s Eve together. There was a DJ playing throughout the evening, and at one point both guests and some of the waiting staff even started dancing, which added a fun and festive touch.
The food was simple but tasty. I had the cooked smoked salmon with whipped feta as a starter, vegetarian pasta for the main, and a chocolate tart for dessert. All dishes were well executed, and the pasta in particular tasted fresh and well prepared.
Wines, cocktails, and champagne were reasonably priced for the occasion. However, the cocktails were average at best and appeared to be poured from a tap, which was disappointing at this price point.
Our waiter was good overall, although some items were left on the table for longer than they should have been before being cleared.
We also stepped out onto the terrace for the fireworks. The views were good and, importantly, there were no crowds, which made the experience more comfortable. That said, the vantage point is partially obstructed by a bridge, so we could not see the full London Eye or the Houses of Parliament.
In summary, while the food, atmosphere, and in-restaurant service were solid—and the fireworks experience was pleasant—the poor organisation leading up to the evening significantly impacted the overall experience. For an event of this price and scale, much better communication and planning are essential.

The Trinity, Borough
202-206 Borough High St, LondonStopped by with my husband after exploring the nearby Asian market, and we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the vibe here!
? Atmosphere
The interior has a cool industrial-chic design with thoughtful details and a very photogenic bar area. The colour palette and decor give the space a warm, welcoming feel. It’s surprisingly spacious, with indoor and outdoor seating right by the canal — perfect for sunny days or casual hangouts.
? Drinks
We only had a couple of beers this time — tried the house-brewed IPA and Lager, both were refreshing and smooth. The drinks menu looked extensive, with lots of other options we’d love to try next time.
?️ Food
Didn’t order any food on this visit, but the pizzas on nearby tables looked amazing! Definitely planning to come back for a proper meal.

wagamama bankside
18-20 Sumner St, LondonI have visited this location many times in the past few years when I visit London, Over the years, Wagamama has made many changes to their manu and the company itself was sold. These days the menu seems larger, however many of the items are the same item with a minor change to create several items from one. The old dessert menu had a few items, That has greatly expanded. I always like the Chicken Katsu Curry. Its one of their most popular items and its quite filling. They used to offer Pork Gyoza, but now its only chicken. Somehow the gyoza dont seem as tasty as the pork ones in the past. They have many Ramen dishes and they also offer vegetarian options. You can order hot green tee free of charge. Things can get a little hectic as you may work with different servers to help you. The fried banana dessert with ice cream is a good one , and has always been on the menu as long as I can remember. Prices are more than fair for London. Wagamama tends to have good hours and offers delivery. I will say if possibly try to east in as the food is better once it comes right out. Thety continue to be a good reliable restuarant with many locations in London. The one by Tower Bridge has some nice scenery. They can be a noisy places as well. This is right next to Tate modern art gallery, so its a great choice for those visiting there.

Starbucks Coffee
12 A Mepham St, London⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great coffee stop with handy location just a bit busy! ☕️?????
I recently visited Starbucks Coffee, Waterloo Station at 12 A Mepham Street while passing through Waterloo Station, and overall it was a solid experience.
It’s super convenient if you need a familiar coffee before or after a train journey, and the location inside the station makes it hard to beat when you’re on the go.
That said, it does get very busy, as you’d expect from a station branch, and that means queues and limited seating at peak times. I noticed a few tables weren’t cleared as quickly as I’d hoped, and finding a place to sit can be a bit of a challenge if the station is crowded.
Overall a reliable Starbucks with good coffee and a really handy location perfect for commuters or traveller ☕️

Costa Coffee
118 Westminster Bridge Rd, LondonHaving seen many Costa Coffees throughout the city of London I decided to give them a try. Of course I tried their Flat White, and it was pretty tasty. Unlike many of their London competitors it was a heartier flat white, by which I mean there was more volume to it instead of simply compacted into a small 4oz cup.
The location was fine, and the interior fairly clean. There is seating outside the shop which made for a nice spot to rest our legs after walking all morning. There's a lovely little park across the way.
I had been surprised with how fast each coffee shop in london had made my flat whites, bur this one took a bit longer. There was no line in front of me, and while it didn't take more than 5 minutes to get my drink it's worth noting that it wasn't as lightning fast as all the other spots.
This spot is well worth the visit to get your coffee fix.
