The Chequers Inn

​I stopped here during a walk, and I am so glad I did—I’ve been thinking about this visit for two weeks! It is a truly special spot that manages to feel both high-quality and incredibly welcoming.
​​The first thing you notice is the vibe—it is so cosy and decorated with the most lovely fairy lights. The service was a genuine 20/10. The staff were completely delightful, especially the lady who looked after us; she was so kind to my dog, which is the quickest way to my heart! It’s the kind of place where you feel instantly at ease.
​I honestly cannot say enough good things about the food. I had the fish pie, and it was spectacular. It felt properly homemade, the flavours were incredible, and the portions were absolutely enormous. I almost regretted having to continue my walk because I wanted to take the leftovers home with me!
​For the quality and the portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable. It is a total gem of a find, and I’m already planning my next visit. I might even bring a Tupperware container next time just in case!
