Culbokie Inn
Culbokie, InnA group of 10 of us had booked in for a friends meet up over a Christmas lunch. There was a bit of an issue when booking as the organizer had all the confirmation details , but when visiting for another lunch she decided to check on the groups booking only to find it wasn't showing on their system (soon re-sorted) . Having seen posts of the new restaurant online we were really excited about trying it out, but was a little disappointed by the outside of the inn as it looked a little tired and dated and the vomit by the bins wasn't a great welcome. At our first attempt there seemed to be nowhere to park as no parking signs everywhere, so we drove around again and was met by a staff member who told us to park along the wall and start a line ( maybe some signs saying where to park would be good). It is difficult to see where the entrance to the restaurant or bar is , when we found the bar we were told we could not get a drink before lunch as they didn't open until 12 but we could order in the restaurant . When we did, all they did was go through to the main bar to get our drink! Anyway the new restaurant is stunning , bright clean and cheerful and stunning views through the glass front across the estuary and the mountains beyond. There is a lovely big log fire too. It was busy over lunch , with 2 large parties for Christmas lunch and all the other smaller tables full. I think the table layout could have been better by not putting the 2 big tables right next to each other , as the space was a little cramped and it was very noisy. However the staff were friendly , and quickly served the meals to everyone. The food was superb! Often Xmas meals are quite bland mass produced but these were home made, good sized portions and really great tasting. Their set menu offered a choice of 2 or 3 courses and every portion of each course got rave reviews from everyone including the vegan and gluten free option . Staff could have been a bit more attentive during the meal : no'one came and asked if everything was alright , and we had to ask for a jug of water on the table and for it to be refilled. The other issue was the low sunlight in winter and no blinds or curtains on windows meant that half the table had the sun in their eyes for most of the meal. It also did get a little hot with the fire and all the people there , and we had to ask for a window to be opened to let some air in. At the end of the meal we asked for the bill and it had helpfully been split into the 2 and 3 course cost which made it easy to split the bill for everyone to pay for what they'd had. The only negative was when they gave us the bill , they stated that they had another party on this table in 10 minutes so we would need to leave but that we didn't have to rush. Whilst it wasn't a problem , nowhere had a time limit on the table been mentioned on booking or when we arrived . It might have been nicer to have been told in advance. A few of us decided to go to the bar for a farewell drink, and sadly you have to walk through a large group of smokers to get to the bar. Its a lovely cosy bar , and a good range of drinks . Unfortunately the ladies toilet door had a hole kicked in it, and the smokers outside told us you can't open it from the inside , so someone had to wait outside to let you out. I think maybe the inn rushed to open the restaurant in time for Christmas and a little bit more attention to details on the outside and signage might be needed . Also they have a very young team of staff and they maybe need a little more training on looking after larger groups. However the food was fabulous and we had a great get together lunch and would certainly recommend for a Christmas meal

Courtyard Coffee Shop & Cafe
Harpers Ct, DingwallDecent cup of coffee and a bacon roll.
Note; if you use Google directions from the south by bicycle you will be given a dangerous route against one way traffic with narrow pavements, find your way to Lidl and you'll be there, or look across the road from Dryburgh cycles.

Pronto Pizza
7 Mayfield, DingwallWe'd definitely recommend Pronto ? pizza ?
The guys are very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The pizza's are make up in front of you, all the ingredients looked fresh and contained in very clean sections.
You can tell that the dough is hand made also.
The pizza's we had looked and smelled amazing from the oven to the takeaway box.
The Pizza itself tasted great, lots of flavour and the base and crust perfect ? a slight crunch on the crust, ideal for dipping.
We will definitely be returning, probably for the massive 16inch ??
Well worth a treat.......

CHILLI MASALA
4 High St, DingwallWas here last night, and was surprised to see a fair few diners out on a Monday, I wasn't surprised for long!
3 of us had dinner, mixed kebabs and a chicken pakora to start, delicious, tender and great flavour. I had a bhuna, there was a rogan and a biriyani between us. Special rice and a garlic naan. Best Indian meal I can remember, every morsel consumed gladly between the 3 of us, a large cobra lager each and £100 all in.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant, simple decor, nice ambience, polite and friendly service, clean, and the most important a delicious dinner in my home town. Fair play guys and thanks. ?

Wimpy
62 High St, DingwallI've come From Newcastle upon Tyne and after 15 memories return of the taste, flavour and table table, shame the chips let down the burger, undercooked... But the Half pounder still is the best, even order 6 more for friends back home, cold or not the burger still good, once it's gone it's gone, and North East England doesn't have any Wimpy, so pleasant experience of old.

Renato's
High St, DingwallRecently, I moved into the area.. I parked up at free carpark in Dingwall and immediately was drawn to an old comforting smell from decades ago to this premises. A very pleasant member of staff served me straight away .\nThe counter was so pleasing to the eye,all freshly prepared, ready to go !\nI ordered a small chips,as cautious now with the awful fish & chips I've had before in the UK (apart from Whitby)\nWell, I would like to announce that the chips had substance, flavour & crispy bits ,I was taken back to the 70's when such a small bag of real chips could make any human happy !\nPlease try it out yourself...
