What a great breakfast in the shadows of the castle! We were looking for a solid breakfast along with real coffee to start the day of adventure in Edinburgh and the Coffee Mill checked every box and more. My wife had a really fresh Mediterranean egg dish and I had eggs and salmon. Both cooked to perfection and in a timely manner. Her espresso over ice and my Americano was just delightful. Excellent everything! My American coffee and Simple Breakfast were both terrific, matched only by the outstanding service, cozy yet comfortable decor, and charming atmosphere. A delightful mix of Scottish music played at a pleasing level over the speakers as I ate my delicious breakfast and watched the pedestrian traffic stroll by. It was delightful!

We popped in to the Coffee Mill on our way home from the Festival. The kids enjoyed two smoothies (pineapple; strawberry) whilst I had a coffee. We all had a brownie too. All delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were so welcoming! In a little stretch of cafes and restaurants from Grassmarket to Lothian Rd this must be the most pleasant. We’ll be back!
