The Drouthy Cobbler
48a High St, ElginI went to the Droughy Cobbler early on a cold and snowy evening in January, just after Christmas and after a long cold day at work. The staff were lovely and accommodating. My monkfish curry was surprisingly good, the wine was lovely, the service just enough with care but not too much so I could have my space, and the price very reasonable. I'll definitely be back.

Granary
14-18 Thunderton Pl, ElginHaving been to The Granary twice in 3 days, the first was just a location finder visit to the place we booked in for Xmas Dinner at £55 a head for a three course meal.\n\nThe food, service, and atmosphere on the rekky trip was spot on. No complaints. \n\nArriving at The Granary on the 25th at our given time of 2:15pm 15 minutes early we walked into an already busy pub and were warmly greeted by a pleasant member of staff who confirmed our reservation and efficiently seated us on a two seater table in a pleasant part of the dining room where we found the table to be well laid out and with a festive nod to the day.\n\nThe drinks order was taken and asked how long we wanted to wait for service, being given time to settle and relax.\n\n Our first courses arrived with a smile and mine, Salmon with beetroot and a tarter mayonnaise was sublime. Chilled, sharp and fresh. My wife had the Cauliflower & Chestnut soup with sourdough bread which was very nice.\n\nThen the pot hole. The main event. Mine, Surf and turf arrived moderately warm, Prawns which hadn't been deveined (meaning the waste sac hadn't been cut out of the tail), oven chips instead of freshly prepared potatoes which you would expect for a high end price tag and a steak that was more chewy and fatty than enjoyable. The saving grace was the amazing (what I assumed was) Bone marrow gravy.\n\nMy wife opted for the more traditional fayer of a traditional Turkey dinner but arrived, one again, just above tepid, Mash that was dry and crumbly as though it had been sat under heat lamps on the pass, pigs in blankets where the sausage was underdone and the fat on the streaky bacon hadn't been crisped up and was just floppy fat. The Turkey didn't appear to be a carved off the bone protein but more of a "turkey roll" type of affair. Masses of veg and all in all a very generous plate of food. \n\nThe member of the dining room staff was sorry to hear of the disappointment regarding the Turkey Dinner and took the message back to the kitchen.\n\nThen the desert. A safe bet. Cheesecake with Coconut and Vanilla Ice cream which was a lovely. Bottle of wine and a glass of red with the steak was good qualityand arrived suitably chilled.\n\nThe serving staff, faultless, ambiance faultless, attention to diner satisfaction faultless.\n\nHowever, when it came to settle the bill, The Granary management removed the cost of my wife's main course because of the above mentioned issues in an offer of good will and kind customer care gesture which was surprising and very welcome and didn't stop is tipping a £Tenner for an otherwise lovely visit. \n\nWill we come back? Absolutely.

Scribbles
152-154 High St, ElginWe’ve been coming here for years and it’s a place we genuinely love. The atmosphere is always great, the service is consistently friendly and attentive, and the menu as a whole is fantastic. The cakes and tray bakes in particular are excellent and never disappoint.
This place built its reputation on brilliant pizza, which is why it feels worth mentioning that recently the pizzas haven’t quite been the same. On our last few visits they’ve felt a little undercooked and doughy, lacking the tastiness they were once known for.
That said, this is still a place that we highly rate and happily recommend. Everything else continues to be spot on, and we really hope the pizzas return to their former crispy glory, because when they’re at their best, they’re hard to beat.

Qismat Elgin Indian Cuisine
204 High St, ElginOn a recommendation from the Premier Inn reception staff, I walked a mile into town to the Qismat restaurant.
The food was absolutely delicious. Exceptionally fresh. All the meat was tender and cooked to perfection.
The garlic & coriander naan bread was so light and fluffy with an outstanding taste.
I topped it all off with the Gulab jamin and ice cream followed by a coffee liqueur.
Sensibly I walked back to the hotel in the hope I may burn off one or two of those pesky calories I just amassed.
I'm as full as a fat bird's shoe now but don't regret that delicious, perfectly prepared meal.
Definitely recommend Qismat. A credit to the owners and all the staff in this crackin' restaurant!

Pattaya Restaurant
54 High St, ElginStopped in for a takeaway meal. The menu has everything tasty on it. While making up my mind, there was more than one comment, "That was delicious and I will be back" as diners left after clearing their plates. Right then, I knew I'd chosen a great place. The staff were great and attended to everyone very quickly and with a massive, proud smile.\nI had Goong Pad Mee which was without doubt, the very best oriental dish I have tasted since away back in the early 1980s. The place looks really great for a dine in experience, and I'm so impressed, I am looking to book a hotel in Elgin so I can take my wife here. We stay approx a 4 hour drive from here. This place is worth visiting. You will not be disappointed.

Weavers Restaurant
Newmill, ElginReally enjoyed our meal of gammon and all the trimmings. We were £20 per person for meal, soft drink & a coffee . Coffees are lovely smooth tasting. The staff were attentive and friendly. Our only negative point was really about the other rude entitled customers who queue jumped when we were waiting both to wait for a table and then again when we went to pay . The system was a bit awkward as the paying point and checking in pount are next to one another and caused confusion both times - can this point be merged into one queue?

Springfield Bar
54 Glen Moray Dr, ElginI would just like to say a massive thank you to the staff at the Springfield bar. I had planned a surprise 30th for my friend, managed to get the lounge (for free!) from start to finish the staff were such a big help, they couldn't do more if they tried. managed to decorate the evening beforehand which was sa massive help The lady working the bar on the night was soo nice and very friendly. when we arrived today to go and clean up I was surprised that they had already done it! everything that was left to be kept had been kept aside neatly for us to collect, cake etc they covered and stored for us. I just really can't thank or praise this place enough and to not charge either is soo unheard of now a days. We had about 22 people all together and it was perfect you could of had a lot more if your having a bigger party but for a smaller party it's perfect as the lounge looks full. perfect size dance floor as well. highly recommend!
