25b Powdermill Brae, GorebridgeMy family stopped her a couple of months back. The restaurant is situated at the back of the pub. The place is very unassuming as you could mistake it from a house. It also does feel your in someone’s home as well. The service was pretty good. Although, we felt that the service was a little slow. In their defence it was a busy so we didn’t mind waiting. We also hoped that with a longer wait would mean that the food would be fresher.
I liked the menu as it had your pub classics but also few unique options. I ended up going with one of those unusual pub dishes and got the Chef’s Deconstructed Peking Duck which was very nice. The duck was well cooked and the flavour of the hoisin and ginger was lovely. The portion size was fair, but £17.50? Maybe on the pricey side. My wife went with the fish and chips. The fish had a crispy batter and the haddock tasted nice. The chips were fine and it came with mushy peas and tartare sauce. We shared garlic bread which was cooked well but were just as good as shop bought. For dessert I had the chocolate and salted caramel pudding which definitely hit my sweet craving. It was delicious and absolutely drowned in sauce.

From the moment we entered, the team’s customer focus was clear and consistent throughout the evening.\nSirhan, the manager, personally guided us through the experience, offering well-judged recommendations aligned to our tastes and confidently enhanced the evening with expertly suggested cocktails. Front-of-house service was genuinely customer-centric and highly professional, based on our standards as professional trainers in hospitality and management. \nWe ordered the Chicken Espatada and the Steak Esperada, medium rare. Both were faultless in quality, flavour, and presentation. Attention to detail extended beyond the dining room; the men’s toilet was spotless and dry, even on a busy evening.\nThis is a restaurant that leaves a lasting impression. We rarely feel reluctant to leave a restaurant, but The Coronation is one that grows on you quickly. Highly recommended.

117A Hunterfield Rd, GorebridgeReceived a friendly welcome in this great local bakery when visiting after a trip to the park; broad range of items, well-presented and all delicious-looking. The staff were lovely and patient with my 3-year-old niece who was having trouble deciding what to have; eventually, she got a chocolate crispy cake which was a generous size and she was delighted. The sausage rolls and empire biscuits were excellent and a great size for the price, and the prices are superb value overall.

Atmosphere, its a walk in takeaway so there is no song and dance but again the staff are great and they make the takeaway welcoming and it is nice to walk into somewhere with a smile.

116 Hunterfield Rd, GorebridgeOne of three Chinese restaurants in the area, in my opinion it's the best one, BC (before covid) the restaurant was the best place for a meal with a loved one, the owners are extremely friendly and welcoming, if you are new to this restaurant I highly recommend the chicken curry and egg fried rice with peas, it is delicious and filling.
