Kaya’s Cafe
140 Main St, Newtongrange, DalkeithIt was a really nice warm welcome when we entered the café. There is certainly no shortage of staff to serve you. We enjoyed two very well made and delicious hot chocolates. The café was quite busy but we managed to get a seat. The people around us were having various bacon and haggis rolls /breakfasts and everybody seems to be enjoying themselves. There was some good banter going on.Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian optionsParking: On street parkingKid-friendliness: Lots of kids with parentsWheelchair accessibility: The door didn’t have a lip, so you could push the wheelchair through

The Dungeon Restaurant
Dalhousie castle hotel, BonnyriggThis was an absolutely fantastic place. The drinks were soo fresh, the food was stunning, and the staff was superb. I felt terrible because the table next to us was so belittling and rude to the fantastic waitress every chance they had. I’m impressed at how positive she remained throughout the whole ordeal. They also surprised us with champagne and a cute “congratulations” dessert for our honeymoon. Definitely go here is you can

The Orangery Restaurant
Dalhousie castle hotel, BonnyriggWe ate breakfast on both days we stayed at the hotel. Restaurant in a conservatory type addition to the castle creating a bright space which is ideal for breakfast. Delicious breakfast menu with a fair range of options. Full Scottish breakfast was a treat. Fresh croissants and pastries recommended. Had porridge both days - very different each time. Preferred the creamy version on the first day.
