The Nithsdale Hotel
1 High St, SanquharFor years and years I have travelled up and down the A76 between Kilmarnock and Dumfries passing through, and, never stopping at any of the former coal mining villages like Sanquhar.
I am now retired and with lots of time and no meetings to get to, I stopped at The Nithsdale Hotel in Sanquhar and what a fabulous place - I was in Room #2 which is quiet and comfortable and dinner in the restaurant is excellent.
Staff are friendly and helpful - 5-Star all round.

15 High St, SanquharGreat bakery shop with a selection of hot filled rolls, pies etc.
The ladies behind the counter are friendly and funny, exchanging snark with workmen with a smile.

Loon Fung
Kirkland Dr, Kelloholm, SanquharWe were on holiday and saw reviews about Loon Fung. Found the place and put in the order. Took it back to the b&b and were really pleased with the quality and quantity of the food. Very good value for money and happy to recommend. Only drawback was the premises were slightly shabby and the inside could do with a tidy up. We didn’t take any photos because we scoffed the lot!
Dietary restrictions: Not much available for vegans.

Sanquhar Chinese
25 High St, SanquharLove this place. We visit on our journey's down south, or back home to Maybole. Chicken Toast and Chicken Noodle soup to die for. Chicken and Char Siu fried rice is the best. Small cut pieces of chicken and pork is the only way to do this dish! Well done folks ?

Barbour J & J
Newark Farm, SanquharWe booked for 2 nights in our motorhome on the CL site, but when we got there, we fell in love with the place so asked if we could stay for 5 nights instead, it's absolutely beautiful and they keep it looking so lovely with lots of flowers about the site, they really care. Frances is so nice and friendly.

Fuel, air, wash, outdoor laundrette, wee shop with local stuff and snacks
Guy even helped me with 50p for air, lovely!

Spicy Hut
24 High St, SanquharAmazing portions, friendly staff! Couldn’t recommend this place enough! I actually broke down on way to collect, was no recovery vehicles to get me or no taxis & I rang the restaurant who sent their delivery driver to collect me & my daughter & take us home. Honestly can’t thank them enough! Amazing people!
