The Tolbooth Seafood Restaurant
Harbour, Old Pier, StonehavenThe tagline of this restaurant is proper Seafood and they are 100% correct! For a start, the setting is wonderful. It’s right on the pier and there is free parking just behind. Views both sides are beautiful and Stonehaven provides ample space to walk off a great dinner. The staff were professional, knowledgable and friendly and enhanced the experience. The drinks were great, both mocktails and wine and the bread and butter superb. The starters were divine! For me they were the best, the sauce with my mussels was excellent. Our mains were very tasty (Hake & the Turbot) and finished off with scrumptious desserts. We will definitely be back when up this side of the world again!

Molly's Café Bar
The Promenade, StonehavenWendy is honestly the sweetest! I had a vegetarian breakfast and it was really good — but what made it amazing was Wendy. One of the best service experiences I’ve had. She’s so welcoming and kind. Someone please give her a raise! I’ll definitely be back because of her ?

The staff were friendly, helpful, and willing to adapt what they had to fit our sandwiches.

Arduthie Rd, StonehavenExceptionally clean. Polite and friendly staff. We only had breakfast here. Likely one of the best bacon sandwiches I've ever had with the bonus of them adding in a slice of black pudding at my request, french toast the second morning which was also excellent.

14 Dunnyfell Rd, Muchalls, StonehavenSo happy to be able to come somewhere they are so willing to offer suuuuch tasty (off menu) alternatives with zero notice!!!
They have a couple of vegan options on the menu and on my second visit in a short period of time the staff recognised me and were able to offer me something off the cuff so I could experience something different. I LOVE their butternut sqaush, pomegranate starter and would normally order the cauliflower main (10/10!) but this time wanted to try something different. I ordered their special soup of the day - roasted onion and cider - and they offered me a surprise main and OMFG!!! I got chanterelle mushroom and asparagus orzo which was absolutely delicious.
Will continue to love coming to eat and drink here. The bar and waiting staff are all so lovely, always smiling and make us feel so welcome!!

The Market Bar
4 Market Ln, StonehavenI went into this place while passing by because all the cafes were closed, but it is a pub with a completely local atmosphere.
There is no separate menu, so you can order whatever beer or liquor you want, and the staff is very friendly. Beer is also cheap!
It's pet friendly, so you can see cute dogs, and the bathroom inside is very clean.
Since you're in Scotland, be sure to try Tennent's. It is poured into a cute special cup

1 Allardice St, StonehavenWas recommended by a local as it was apparently the birthplace of the deep fried mars bar. Had fish and chips and of course the mars bar and everything was satisfying. Probably better eaten fresh as the fish wasn't as nice once its cooled but there's no option to dine in but it still tasted good after a 20min drive home.

5 Barclay St, StonehavenFantastic food, portion sizes could be a bit bigger (or an option for bigger sizes made available?) but definitely tasty and worth a visit! We sat in and there was no other customers unfortunately, although the takeaway was doing steady trade.
There were vegetarian options on the takeaway menu, but not too much choice on the eat in - although they were more than happy to accommodate!
Staff were lovely and friendly, and happy to accommodate my nut allergy too.

I would recommend this as the spices are unique and more expressive than many comparable restaurants. I would definitely return to this excellent restaurant.

We have rarely experienced better Indian cuisine. After a relatively short time, the friendly waiter served us our food. The prices were okay. The restaurant is quite close to Stonhaven town square. There are also paid parking spaces there. It's a good idea to take a stroll through the city and to the beach. Troupers Bar
10 Barclay St, StonehavenI was there alone on Thursday the 29th and the guy at the bar was super nice and friendly. Despite not understanding the Scottish accent very much, I really enjoyed the beers I tried and the hospitality of the people who chatted with me in this place. Super recommended.

We were absolutely delighted with the quality in taste and size of the fish, the chips were cooked to perfection. Other local fish and chips are fine but tend to use a different batter/oil, their chips appear bland and undercooked compared with Meydan. Will definitely be back, keep up the good frying guys.

100 Brickfield Rd, StonehavenWe’ve been ordering from New Taste Chinese once or twice a month for some time now, and it never disappoints. The food always arrives piping hot, fresh, and full of flavour — exactly what you want from a good Chinese takeaway.
The rib dishes are particularly outstanding — consistently tender, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. You can really taste the difference in quality here compared to your average local takeaway.
Delivery is usually prompt, and the team are first class — polite, efficient, and always deserving of a good tip, which we’re happy to give. The only slight downside is that they tend not to deliver outside Stonehaven when they’re busy, which is understandable but a bit of a shame if you live just beyond the boundary.
That said, it’s still our go-to for Chinese food in the area. Highly recommended.

Super Cuisine Chinese Takeaway
2 Barclay St, StonehavenFirst thing to remember is they don’t accept card payments. Go prepared with cash or pay for your order online using their website. It will cost you more doing it that way though. Food is nice and all our dishes were cooked well and tasted nice. Really polite service and easy to park nearby to collect. Portions are average sized and felt each dish was priced fairly.
