Blackstairs Lounge
20 Breadalbane Terrace, WickThis is a hidden gem of a place. Nothing to look at from the outside but inside it's great. You can eat in the bar or there is a separate eating area. Menu maybe a little limited but if you are a curry lover there's plenty of choice. Friendly staff, great food and reasonable prices.

Flavours John O'Groats
2 The Craft Centre, WickWe stopped off here during our time in John O’Groats and I would like to start off by saying the staff are lovely! Very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and patient - the family in front of us bought a variety of products ALL with modifications and they came out perfectly! So great kudos to the wonderful servers for that.
Our order came out perfectly but INCREDIBLY SMALL PORTIONS! I understand about the cost of living crisis, Scotland offering a higher than average living wage, the economy of transporting items that far north, rent and utilities, rubbish collection and everything else that goes into running a business but the portions were tiny! The smallest I’ve ever seen from such an establishment. My son had a Mr Whippy, my husband a raspberry ripple in a waffle cone and I had a vegan vanilla in cake cone and mine was the most expensive!!!! It was lovely seeing vegan ice cream offered but the price point is high even taking into account it’s a “niche” item.
Thank you for having vegan options and I know my review won’t alter your practice. I genuinely do wish your business well and this review is not intended to offend ?
*Edit* I appreciate the owner reaching out to address my minor complaint; I messaged explaining it wouldn't feel right accepting a refund as we consumed the ice creams. I've also added another star - unbidden - to reflect the attempt at rectifying the matter. Many thanks for doing so and I wish you a wonderful rest of the year.

Mountain Dew Bar
26 Smith Terrace, WickThe hidden gem of the NC500! If you're travelling through Wick, this is well worth a stop. It doesn't look much from the outside but the warm welcome, friendly banter and hospitality were all second to none. The barman couldn't hear enough about our trip so far and our plans for the next few days, showering us with recommendations and helpful tips. The love for the tourist was almost overwhelming, and the staff went out of their way to set us up on the WiFi, to lend us a phone charger and to handmake us their speciality house cocktail (ask for Ralph, with a knowing wink - he makes a mean martini). I'd advise calling ahead to book and make sure there's space for you, especially if you're travelling in a large group. It felt like a home away from home and I can't wait to come back and raise a glass with the amazing locals and fellow tourists alike!

Bridge Street Cafe
29 Bridge St, WickTruly tantalising cuisine, I experienced textures and flavours I couldn’t dream of. The staff kept telling me jokes and put on something like a stand-up routine, I nearly choked on my tea from howling laughing! Was a bit noisy on a Wednesday morning and I had to leave as I was getting a bit overstimulated.

The Printers Rest
Cliff Rd, WickWe went for dinner and have tried Maltese food before. My husband and I ordered the following dishes.. heartland bread that they make was awesome, Pulpetti (meatballs in a tomato sauce) with pasta and Brajoli (beef dish) with a wine tomato sauce and pasta. Both dishes were delicious..would definitely go here again. They had a very relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend. If your traveling through, give it a try. Unfortunately we were in Wick only 1 night, otherwise we would again for dinner.

Harpers Bar
Back Bridge St, WickDeterring from the outside, very nice from the inside with a great atmosphere. The prices are great and the service was great too and even made us a drink which she had to google first because she didn't know it. When I asked for a cider, she even let us try it for free!
It was a bit strange that there was no music playing there.

Telford's Cafe
Huddart St, WickSeems it's changed a bit since the last reviews, it's now some sort of donation-driven self-serve canteen. There were cakes, teas, coffees, and that sort of thing.
As far as I could see it was just take what you want and pay what you can. A lot of locals and regulars there happy to chat, an interesting and friendly bunch for sure. Can recommend stopping by if you're in the area!!
Be warned: no fish and chips here which is what got me there in the first place! But plenty of other joints for that in the vicinity, no harm done

The Crown Bar
95 High St, WickStayed in Wick for a overnight stay on the 8th April and found it to be a depressing place. The only silver lining was The Crown bar. The bar is quite spacious, clean with a pool table. The actual serving bar counter is small with a working space for two people. Didn't have draft Guinness but did have cans which was fine, nice range of whiskies from Blends to Malts, bonus points also awarded as they stocked Black Bottle. There were only two young guys playing pool and a further two local gentlemen at the bar when i went in, very friendly and talkative and ended up having a few more beers and drams with them. At the end of the night there were only ever six customers, however it was a Monday evening. Special thanks to Linda behind the bar, friendly, efficient, really made you feel welcome. Have nothing but praise for the Crown Bar

The Great Wall
Dempster St, WickLove their food and good portion sizes and not long waits even when busy you only wait bout 20 mins longer.Good value for the prices the food here costs and we get from here often but our only thing we dont like about them is that they dont do the online orders like all the other fast food take-aways do.Have to put my hand up that I would buy from here WAAAY more is if they went online like the rest have as for us its a 15 min walk and it rains a lot here. But despite that I still love this take-away more than the rest and at least it's a healthy short walk. And yes im in Old Pultyny hence the walk. It's my 41st birthday today and going here again today for my birthday take-away with my family and nip home with it all for the family.Vegetarian options: good oprions for vegetarians without the meat and I sometimes go for these when im in the mood for a chinese take-away without the fatty foods as I try to ballance my food habbits as put on a bit of weight so the healthy option is good.Parking: it's basicly street parking so there is always a few spaces either right outside the shop or a few meteres up the street or round the street corner.

Spice Tandoori Wick
2 The Shore, Wick⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Spice Tandoori in Wick. From the moment I walked in, the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and their knowledge of the menu helped me choose the perfect dishes.
The food itself was outstanding — fresh, fragrant, and full of authentic flavours. The chicken tikka was perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with spice, while the naan bread was soft, fluffy, and fresh from the tandoor. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with taste.
What really stood out was the attention to detail and the genuine pride the team takes in their food. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Wick, Spice Tandoori is an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves high-quality Indian cuisine. I’ll definitely be back!

THE ALEXANDER BAIN
Wick⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – A Near-Death Dining Experience… But in a Good Way
I popped in for food today fully expecting the usual — sticky menus, suspicious stains, and maybe a light stabbing for dessert. But holy hell, someone’s clearly kidnapped the old staff and replaced them with actual professionals.
First shocker: we were greeted at the door. By a human. They even showed us to our seat without swearing at us. Second shocker: the floor was clean. I mean, actually clean. No blood. No sorry Wickers lying drunk in the corner. I almost left to double-check I was in the right building.
Menus arrived without bite marks. Drinks order taken without a grunt. We ordered haggis balls and tattie skins, which turned up hot, fresh, and on clean plates. At this point I started scanning for hidden cameras.
Then came the main: a steak that was, against all odds, a real steak. No mystery meat, no weird sauce pretending to hide the truth. Just steak, chips, and joy. It tasted great, we demolished our plates, and I even paid without crying. Cheap as chips (literally).
Three hours later and I’m still alive, upright, and not bargaining with God from the bathroom floor. Whoever’s running this place now — chef, manager, or culinary wizard — keep doing whatever you’re doing.
This is the first time in 15 years I’ve left here without food poisoning or a police statement. Spot on.

Harbour Chip Shop
Harbour Quay, WickOrdered the large fish supper and was not disappointed, that was a great portion for under £10. Only had to wait a few minutes, but everything tasted fresh, nice crisp fluffy chips, and whilst the fish was heavy on the batter, it went down well and was not dry or greasy.

Supreme Fish Bar & Fast Food
7 Bridge St, WickI have to be totally honest, I was not expecting my fish & chips to taste so good, but they did. The chips were nice like chips from the chippy should be. The fish was large and chunky in a light crisp batter. I tried the so called best fish & chip shop in the North of Scotland last week, and it was disgusting. Tonight my partner treated me to fish & chips from Suprems in Bridge Street, Wick, in my opinion they are the best fish & chips not only in Wick, but in the North of Scotland! We will be back now that I have finally found a great fish & chip shop. Keep up the good work guys.Edit 28th July 2022I have now tried the nan kebabs, I have to say, they are the best lamb tikka and chicken tikka kebabs I have tasted. Supreme is the best fish bar and fast food I have been to in a very long time, worth moving from Glencoe to Cairhness for ?. The quality has been top notch over at least 7 visits now. And the staff are always friendly and helpful. Sadly I can't leave a review on foodhub because we always drive to the shop to order and to leave a review you have to order via the app. Do yourself a favour, have a break from cooking and order a delicious takeaway ?
