Capilla Tapas Restaurant

Just love this restaurant. Foods fantastic. Been a highlight of my Thurso trips for years. You can usually trust a place if it's full of locals.Small restaurant so I would advise you to book ahead especially in the summer months.Right on the Scrabster Harbour quayside. Lots of large and small fishing boats plus one of the Orkney ferries and the big RNLI lifeboat operate from the piers next to it.Great place to stroll around but If you'd rather have a wine than a walk it's a busy working harbour so there's lots to see from Cappila's or the pub next door's beer gardens.Go out the front door and 5 min walk past the fish processing factories you'll find a hidden gem of a large sandy beach surrounded by steep cliffs.

Captain's Galley Restaurant

Arrived for lunch with ex colleagues expecting the regular menu, however the restaurant was offering a special Greek week menu ! Wow! What a fabulous lunch… we had several of the small sharing plates - which were absolutely delicious!! Great advice from the friendly waitress about how many portions would best suit us. We were too full for dessert but the chef accommodated our wish to finish with something sweet by offering us mini chocolate brownies with our coffee! So enjoyed by us all …. can’t wait to go back soon ! Thank you all at The Captain’s Galley!

Pride of Bengal Indian Restaurant and Takeaway

Nice friendly atmosphere. Attentative polite staff. We had starters very good. We had three different curries and they were all of a very good standard and well cooked. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food and we had a good evening. We had a little bit of a wait between courses but the food was cooked from fresh and a cooked perfectly. Definitely worth a return visit.

Caffe Cardosi

Lovely cafe, very friendly and funny staff, as well as their customers, you will definitely have a laugh while you are there. A lot of others were eating in the café so I can only guess the food is also good ( most places are great in Thurso from my experience). You can use a wheelchair easily on one half of the café unassisted, the other half of the restaurant could be used with some help, there are about 3 stairs to ascend. Great café and well worth a visit.

Spice Tandoori

We visited on a dark stormy night to be welcomed by friendly staff and delicious food. Nothing was too much trouble, even serving special coffees to round off our meal. Thank-you we will be back.

Jamieson Bakery

My husband and my self had lunch 2 days running , the home made soup is delicious and the apple pie is the best I’ve ever had ,we recommend this cafe as the food is delicious and the staff friendly and helpful and great value for money .

Mr C's Bar

This bars atmosphere and the kindness that the staff have portrayed is so nice , the drinks are at a reasonable price , and the lunch service , best food I had in a while The owner is very professional and will help you wherever is possible

KW Kitchen

What a delight to be able to see such a lovely presentation in spotlessly clean and well covered display, all the salad looked crisp and fresh, and the service was amazing. Friendly and informative. Worthy of every one of their 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Olive

Decent little upmarket bistro. Actually feels a little out of place in Thurso. Staff are friendly, service is quick enough. Seems trendy with the younger crowd. Menu can be a little Niche so check it out before hand. Pretty good for the veggie and vegan lot and those with dietary requirements.

Been here a few times now, very good fish and chips... possibly the best I've had. The service I've had each time has always been attentive, and I've enjoyed my food each time. There has been a 30% off deal throughout November which has made the price very reasonable, this has been great as I personally find the food prices in the area to be a bit much.

Thurso Community Café

What a wonderful place this has become. I'm sorry to say we only had an opportunity to visit once before moving out of the area.This is more than just a cafe that serves wholesome food and cakes, this is a community hub which cares about the most vulnerable in our society, and it deserves all the support it can be given :) Wonderful people and a wonderful concept that I hope inspires other places to follow suit across the UK :)Parking: Outside the cafe there is plenty of easy car parking for anyone wishing to visit.

T's Café Restaurant

The staff have been nothing but polite to my family and I whenever we go in for lunch. I've always enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere along with it. I have had a positive experience with every visit. Without a doubt my favourite place to eat!

Amazing meal with a breathtaking view? Staff were so friendly and attentive! Wide range of local, fresh fish but many another options aswell , etc their locally famous steaks. Definitely would recommend and can’t wait for our next visit.

Top Joe's

Good pub to visit when in Thurso. Pleasant watering hall says my husband! Good, fair prices and central. Service is attentive. We didn't eat there so I can not tell something about that.

Tesco Cafe

Nice wee place and well looked after. The fayre is less so great for me but that's what Tesco's offer and the staff do their best.It's a good cuppa though.

Peerie Cafe

I went to have a cappuccino with a dessert and an egg and bacon sandwich. Then I ordered some tea. The staff were friendly and I loved the port cafe atmosphere. I had a cozy moment while resting from my walk around the city. Recommended! ?

The Grove Lounge

Dog friendly place with great food! We had to wait a bit for the food, but the staff was very friendly and helpful, and we would definitely recommend this place!

The Blue Door Coffee Shop & Diner

First of all, this place is NOT permanente closed. We’ve been wanting to come for dinner here for years, but our visits haven’t coincided well with opening hours. This time around it finally did though! We were a party of 5 and everyone was very pleased with the food. The menu mainly consists of burgers and shakes. Decent prices and the burgers come with fries. The decor is very American with red, white and blue everywhere. The only thing I would say is that the music was a tad too loud and the seating was a bit hard, so you don’t really want to linger. But all in all a pleasant visit.

Y Not Bar & Grill

Food was spot on and as you can see, the portion size is very generous. Nachos as a main were really nice with added pulled pork. Everyone in our group loved their choices too.

Johnstons Of Thurso

The staff here are very accommodating …… the hotel is a little dated but under new ownership so work in progress . The room was clean & comfortable and the food was excellent and great value , breakfast was included in the price , free car parking …. so all in all a great place to stay that won’t break the bank .

Thurso Best Kebab

We took the train from Inverness to Thurso to catch the ferry to Strombess from the little town Scrabster next to Thurso. We hired the best taxi tour ever, VISTRAVI.COM, to take us around for 3 hours to see the local area. Great driver, informative, friendly and punctual!
