Sakura Kitchen
32 Laverock Rd, KirkwallI ordered from the Sakura Kitchen on the recommendation of a "foody" friend. We had the Chicken, Salmon and Vegetarian Bentos - they were absolutely exquisite to look at and delicious to eat. Also (and this was a surprise) the dishes were really filling. We will definitely order from here again. Thank you for a lovely treat!

cafelolz
The Strynd, KirkwallIt's not a fancy place, with fine china or silverware, there's no cashmere or grandfather clock. Still, there's comfortable seats, good coffee, excellent fresh baked goods and a feel that can only be described as homeliness. While sitting there I didn't feel like I was on a windy island in the north sea/north Atlantic, I felt at home. The prices were just right, and there's nothing I can flaw. I would definitely come back.

St Magnus Community Cafe
KirkwallPopped in for a hot drink and a snack. The menu had something for everyone. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, the staff were nice and the food was served quickly. Not the fanciest decor, but I don’t eat decor. The prices were very reasonable. I would recommend.

Argo's Bakery
Albert St, KirkwallHighly recommend the "fresh cream donut"!! 5 stars.I highly recommend the fresh cream donuts. It’s the best fresh cream I’ve ever tasted in my life. It’s cheap and super delicious. Definitely recommended!!! Go buy it early in the morning because it will be sold out by cruise tourists between 10 and 11 o’clock. I couldn't buy it anymore when I went back later. The milk was average. The cream biscuits were average. The store clerk was very friendly.

Robertsons Coffeehoose & Bar
Church Rd, St Margaret's Hope, OrkneyDefinitely book ahead, as the whole restaurant was packed when we arrived. We had booked though, so our table was reserved. The food was beautifully cooked, well presented and plentiful. One disappointment was that the Scapa Skillen sauce, served with the haggis and black pudding balls, was served with mushrooms. I'm allergic to mushrooms, so wouldn't have chosen that option if I'd known (not mentioned on the menu). Other than that, we had a great meal. One of the best things is that vegan options are available, including ice cream, at no extra cost which is a refreshing change from most other places.
