Dropped by for a quiet pint. Much better than when I visited as a younger man 40 or so years ago. A renovation several years ago has revealed an early medieval wall to the rear. Which is now visible.
A cosy traditional type Inn dating back to 14th C I think..service good and attentive but felt for the amount of people in the pub eating the delivery of food was slow!Hot food and plenty of peas and chips but as 2 of us ordered the fish and chips, each dish the size of fish looked different. Quite expensive at nearly £17 each and felt it was nothing special for the amount paid.Building could have been warmer as no tables free near the open fire which clearly couldn't heat other...read full review

We loved the Rose and Crown. Went in for one drink and stayed for several hours. A warm and welcoming atmosphere and very friendly staff - we'll definitely visit again when we return to
