Great food and a good sized portion. I left pretty stuffed after the lasagne. Staff were friendly and helpful. Visited during the day and it was fairly quiet so can't really comment on atmosphere.

We popped in to see a Classic car meet in the car park and had a pint while there. A warm, friendly welcome from the Landlady and Landlord plus the beer was great. We will be back of an afternoon/ evening and have a meal next time.

We love this place. Have been multiple times now - the food and drinks are great. Really baby friendly too and always feel comfortable and welcome when coming with our toddler. There is a lovely little park just outside too. The lady who runs the cafe and is behind the cooking seems to be so passionate about the food that she makes this definitely shows, because the specials menu consistently has new things on it and everything tastes fresh, homemade and delicious. We came in a couple of days ago and had the celeriac with lunch and it was amazing, I’ve been raving about it since! Would recommend this cafe to anyone and look forward to coming back again!

You know finding a really goood bakery is not that easy. Especially with supermarkets and chain bakeries not being up to scratch. So with that said This place is great, the bread is amazing, the staff know what they are talking about, and the sausage rolls are 75% meat and 25% pastry, and they really fill you up. The only downside is that its 20mins drive for me, but hey its worth it :)

I was the only customer at 1.30pm on a wet Monday afternoon. The two ladies were delightful and, being a cool, wet lunchtime i was seeking something warm and hot food was on the menu but i was reminded of times past by the tempting Ploughman's Lunch; three types of cheese - brie, cheddar and stilton, served with salad and biscuits. They asked if i'd like some bread and butterand i said yes.To follow, traditional hot Golden Syrup bread-and-butter pudding. I was warned that the plate was hot; when i'd finished ten minutes later the plate was still hot!Good value food, served well by friendly staff.I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Driven past many, many times and the Car Park is always chocca. The Ploughman's Lunch had been recommended so we decided we should "give it a go"First recommendation - BOOK A TABLE. We were lucky and got the last one.Very surprised at the Specials menu. Some great sounding food on there, but stuck with the reason for being there and we're not disappointed. Some excellent real ales from guest breweries to be had as well. Looks like I could well be a designated driver for a few sessions!Ploughman's was excellent. Very much enjoyed the Chutney.Great place a real gem on our doorstep.

The Old Pound Inn

Aller, Langport

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Old Pound Inn for my birthday lunch with family and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was captivated by the charming ambience that this historic inn exudes. The authenticity and attention to detail in preserving its traditional English character is truly commendable. The staff at the Old Pound Inn were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed even when we requested condiments and additional gravy for the meals. The food of course was the highlight of my visit... The menu featured a variety of traditional British dishes, all prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients. I of course being a creature of habit opted for my old friend Mr Scampi and his accompaniment of chiplets, which were very nicely seasoned, which added an extra sparkle to them. The Sticky toffee pudding with custard I had as a dessert was just delightful too.The location of the Old Pound Inn is perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by picturesque countryside, it offers plenty of opportunities for scenic walks and exploration. Additionally, it is conveniently located near several charming villages and historic landmarks, making it an ideal base for sightseeing. In conclusion, my experience at the Old Pound Inn exceeded all expectations. It truly felt like stepping back in time, embracing the rich history and warm hospitality that England is renowned for. I cannot recommend this enchanting inn enough to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic stay in the heart of the countryside.

I had lunch today at Corks and ordered a Tuna sandwich. Unfortunately, it came with pickles mixed in with the tuna, which I hate. I told the very helpful staff who immediately changed my order without any problems. The replacement bacon & brie toasty was yummy.

Love this place! The owners are extremely friendly and greet you with smiles. The food is very fresh, wonderfully tasty and plentiful. The prices are spot on in todays current climate. I highly recommend the chicken kebab (juicy marinated chicken breast cooked on bbq, fresh salad with a wonderful homemade chilli sauce) and the pizzas, again fresh ingredients, plenty of toppings and comes with a free garlic dip. A real treat, has never disappointed in 3 years.

Fantastic service and great food! We went as a party of 10 for a birthday meal. We were given the Green Room to use so my son could walk around without me having to stress where he was and so he didn't get too overwhelmed. Thank you so much!
