The Strode Arms
E Cranmore Ln, Cranmore, Shepton MalletDropped in for Sunday lunch before visiting the railway. The team are very friendly and welcoming. There is a good range of ciders and ales providing something for wvert taste. The roast beef was delicious and perfectly cooked to medium. Portions were good and, although we obly intended to have a main having been encouraged by the waitress to try the chocolate brownie, we indulged and this was of equally yummy. I would highly recommend

Conduit Square, Pilton, Shepton MalletJust popped in for a quick drink-non alcoholic, but the menu looked nice. Beautifully decorated pub with gorgeous toilets. Quirky decor and a 70s vibe style music.

The Crossways
North Wootton, Shepton MalletThis is a really lovely hotel. It's out in the stakes so it's really peaceful and quiet. The balcony outside has fantastic views over Somerset to Glastonbury tor and beyond.
All of the stuff were absolutely wonderful and helped us out of a real sticky spot when a taxi let us down. They're really friendly, really quick to help and couldn't do enough to make their guests' stay and experience to remember.
The rooms are spacious, well equipped, clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable.
Parking is free and plentiful and there are some charging points for electric cars.
The food was very good indeed.
Simply a lovely experience. Really enjoyed ourselves, and I love your sense of humour!
Thank you, Crossways!

Hong Kong Garden
14 High St, Shepton MalletHave been a regular for quite some time, and Hong Kong Garden has always been our preferred Chinese takeaway in Shepton Mallet. The food has always been good and portions plentiful. I felt the need to review, as last night's meal was exceptional. The salt and chilli chicken wings were so tasty and crunchy. The beef fried rice was perfect with large, tender, perfectly cooked pieces of beef. The whole meal was so good. Thank you Hong Kong Garden, definitely money well spent and we'll be back again soon.

The King William IV
Station Rd, Shepton MalletProper family run village pub. Good local ales and cider as well as the normal selection of draft pints. Larger menu than you'd expect with good pub food and something for everyone. Their Sunday lunch is the best around too. Prices very reasonable for what you get. All together would definitely recommend.

Waggon & Horses
Old Frome Road, Shepton MalletWent for a Sunday lunch today for my mums 89th birthday. Their were 10 of us. It was a great service. A few little issues, but sorted without any hassle. One thing we thought would of made it better was maybe instead of coming out with lots of gravy, bring out gravy in gravy boats.Must admit the Raspberry pavlova absolutely lush.Thank youParking: Good car park

Kilver Court - Gardens and Cafe
Kilver St, Shepton MalletWhat a little gem of a place. Never been here before, even though we live about 11 miles away! After parking the car up (free), you can head towards the small cafe, for a drink and cake, or go into the designer shops (only one was open on Easter Bank Holiday Sunday, but more so after severe flooding), or pay £7.50 entrance to the gardens, which I think is a little on the expensive side, especially as the foliage and flowers weren't out yet or even get a complimentary drink. Better to go in mid Spring - Summer time. As usual, I took lots of photos. But still worth a visit.

Shepton Brasserie
66 High St, Shepton MalletA VERY LUCKY FIND
We couldn't believe how lucky we got with the food here, considering how bizarrely empty the town was on a Saturday afternoon.
Between us we had the halloumi burger and goats cheese salad with a side of chips. All very, very delicious. We said if we ever know anyone going to Shepton Mallet we will tell them to come here ?

Bowlish House
Wells Rd, Bowlish, Shepton MalletA Truly Special Stay – Unforgettable Moments at Bowlish House From the moment I arrived at Bowlish House, I felt completely at ease. The house itself is full of charm and character, but what truly made my stay unforgettable was the host—absolutely amazing in every way. Warm, welcoming, and effortlessly kind, they made me feel more like a friend than a guest. On my first night, I found myself in the beautiful garden, sharing drinks and stories with the host and two other guests. I honestly can’t remember the last time I laughed so much. That evening set the tone for the rest of my stay—full of joy, connection, and genuine warmth. It’s rare to come across a place where the company is just as memorable as the setting. The house is gorgeous, with a peaceful, timeless feel. My room was spotless, cozy, and beautifully styled, and the breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious—thoughtfully prepared and full of local flavor. Bowlish House is more than just a lovely place to stay—it’s somewhere you feel instantly at home. I left with a full heart, new memories, and a genuine desire to return. Thank you so much for the laughter, the stories, and the wonderful hospitality. I truly loved your company.

The Dusthole
Kings Arms, Garston St, Shepton MalletI can only recommend 'The Dusthole'. We were very impressed by the owner's helpful and friendly manner as well as the 'charming' rooms. The atmosphere is very familiar, typically 'English', the room is very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. I would definitely book here again! Thank you very much for the great time!!

Mughal Empire
2 Commercial Rd, Shepton MalletLooks unattractive from the outside. The door is very difficult to open, I thought it was shut at first, looks like a dark dungeon.\n\nOnce inside it looks much better.\nThey’re a bit too speedy to take orders, we hardly sat down before we were asked what we wanted. \nWe actually had 3 check backs, a bit OTT.\n\nThe table mats, crockery, chocolates were all personalised, nice touch.\nHowever, the menu was sticky, dirty and very tatty, about time they binned them and had new menus in place.\n\nThe chicken tikka starter was tasty, but disappointing they had added food colouring, no need for it.\nThe king prawn purée was ok, not much flavour unfortunately, rather bland.\nThe garlic naan was ok, but lacking in garlic flavour, could have been a regular naan.\nThe Mughal Empire Special tasted exactly the same as chicken tikka masala, but more bland, rather disappointing, it was supposed to be a hot dish. They need to review their chilli ratings on the menu.\n\nSeats were comfortable, the place was clean. Staff a little over zealous, food too bland.\n\nDrinks are ridiculous, it’s 55p more expensive to order a large glass of water than it is a JD/Southern Comfort/gin/rum etc ??.\n\nA bottle of Echo Falls which costs £5.75 retail is just short of £20, bonkers! \nIn short, food was reasonably priced, drinks were very expensive, service was rather intrusive. \n\nIt wasn’t a dreadful dinner, but wasn’t great either. Probably best to get a takeaway from here, add spice at home, unless you like bland food. Good for an introduction to Indian food for toddlers.

The Den at Thorner's
Thorner's Farm, Pylle, Shepton MalletThe food, (The Ultimate Breakfast) was very good and plentiful. However the space is very noisy when full and conversation is difficult. I would draw the management's attention to the washbasin in the ladies. It needs a really, deep clean, it did not leave a good impression.

The Charlton Inn
29 Charlton Rd, Shepton MalletA really lovely anniversary stay at the beautiful Charlton House. The team in reception, the spa, housekeeping and the restaurant were all fantastic. friendly, helpful, professional l and provided excellent customer service. We dined in the restaurant, breakfast, evening meal and afternoon tea the following day and enjoyed really good food and service. The spa was lovely, and the booked treatments were outstanding. A good gym with decent equipment. We had a lovely big room with small outside area which was great. There were a few small areas around the outside spa and room which were a little tired, but nothing that detracted at all from the fantastic break we enjoyed.

Domino's Pizza - Shepton Mallet
8 High St, Shepton MalletWe have ordered (and collected) on 5 occasions over the last year.\n\nThey do not deliver but we do live a distance from the Shepton. \n\nWe have one create your own and one off their menu - order via the app and set off in the car. Very simple. \n\nWithout the offers it’s expensive but we have always had 50% off offer that has prompted the purchase. It makes it one of the cheaper takeaways - fish & chips and Indian takeaway are expensive these days. \n\nWe have no complaints about the food - looks and tastes like it should. Is it as good as one you make yourself with a pizza oven - no - is it good when it’s hot and you are tired - yes \n\nNot sure why there are 1 star reviews
