Polow Restaurant (Persian Fine Dining)

Beautiful food, service and atmosphere. Fresh flowers on every table and counter - you don’t see that a lot these days and it’s such a beautiful sight. Immediately served iced water upon taking our seats and the staff kindly brought out a small plastic baby bowl and plate for our little one to join in with dinner. The food was outrageously good and very reasonably priced, cannot recommend the koobideh enough. We were excited to hear it’s a family owned restaurant as well. Decor is absolutely stunning. What a gem of a place, would love to visit again!

The Tudor Pass at Great Fosters

Had a lovely experience at the Tudor Pass. The food is beautifully prepared with lots of botanical elements throughout the menu. The chef and sous chef personally introduce each course and are very warm and friendly. The small dining room creates an intimate and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

A rare scene of chinese fine dining experience. Really good atmosphere where you can chat with your friend freely, and thats what we did. Good quality of food and they look pretty as well. On a higher price range but worth a visit while in London!!! Tips: the signature fish dish needs a pre-order.

The Red Lion 52 High St, Egham

The Red Lion

52 High St, Egham

The thing about lions, no one ever questions it, do they? Golden, tawny, sunlit creatures, as if the savannah itself painted them. But never red. Never truly red. And yet people insist on remembering them that way, as though memory were a careless artist, dipping its brush into the wrong pigment. I’ve tried to picture it, a lion the colour of rust or beetroot juice, but it refuses to settle. It becomes absurd, theatrical, like a costume worn too earnestly. No, lions were never red. That much I’m certain of, even if I’m uncertain about nearly everything else.

What I am less certain about, though I observe it often, is how oversized gentlemen manage themselves in confined social spaces. Not manage, exactly. Expand. They expand. Give them a bar, just a simple counter, a modest arrangement of stools and somehow, they occupy not only their seat but the air around it, the elbow room of three men, the conversational territory of five. A glass in hand becomes a declaration of ownership. A lean, a shift, a sigh, suddenly the geography changes. You find yourself edging away, not out of politeness, but because the physics of the situation demands it. It’s not unkind, not intentional even. Just… spatial ambition.

And then there’s the garden.

Ah, the garden is a delight, though I can never explain why without sounding faintly ridiculous. It reminds her, always her, never me, though I borrow the sentiment of beetroot salad. That deep, earthy sweetness, the way the colour stains everything it touches, unapologetically vivid. You step among the leaves and it’s as though the air itself has been dressed in that same crimson insistence, not the false red of imagined lions, but something grounded, edible, real.

It’s strange what associations take root. A garden that tastes like beetroot. A memory that insists lions were something they never were. And then, tucked away in the world food aisle, those Russian salads, stacked neatly in jars or plastic tubs, labelled with careful foreignness. You pick one up, turn it over, wonder if it will taste like the garden or like the memory of it. There’s always that uncertainty. Always that slight mismatch between what is and what is recalled.

Still, the garden persists. The bar fills. The gentlemen expand. And the lions, mercifully, consistently, remain exactly the colour they’ve always been, no matter what anyone says.

POOLEY GREEN BEST KEBAB HOUSE

138 Thorpe Lea Rd, Egham

1)The large chicken doner was so big I couldn’t finish it.
2)It was not a greasy oily kebab . It was cooked nicely and prepared nicely.
3) The customer service was excellent . Very welcoming chefs . There was comfortable seating. Because most takeaway kebab shops don’t have seating.
4) The food was well displayed so you could see what would be good to order.
5) The parking situation was good. Because it was free parking in residential roads from a very short distance to the shop.
6) The food, (chicken Doner) was warmed up to a good temperature. So that was good because some kebab shops you go the meat gets cold quick.

Delicious food, lovely staff and a really nice atmosphere. 4 of us went and we shared a starter or two, bruschetta with vegetables and cheesy garlic bread. I then had the risotto primavera (veg) which was lovely, and a delicious tiramisu to finish

We enjoyed a family get together at the red lion.
Just a suggestion, but don't order the specials, or the apple pie. Smallest piece of apple pie I've ever been served in a restaurant!
For the price charged they are definitely not worth it.
Other meals we had at our table were fine and seemed like good value for money.

Absolutely the best pub, not just in the village, but in the surrounding area.

Pubs like this one must stay afloat. The managment and staff are exceptional. The food is also excellent with variety added regularly.

The staff are so helpful and will try to help in the best way they can. Feel the venue is great for families, as the pub has a relaxing and safe atmosphere.

Definitly worth a visit. Cant fault this pub.

We had a private function here for a surprise 60th birthday. There was a small mishap wi the a double booking however the staff were very accommodating and shut the rest of the restaurant for the afternoon so we could have the function we desired. The staff were super attentive and very helpful throughout the day. Food was pre-chosen prior to the event due to the amount of people however we were able to choose from a variety of menus and mix and match so everyone was catered for. The meals were delicious all came out promptly and the children’s meals the matched. They even had plastic crockery and cutlery for the children which was a big hit. We all had a great time and hopefully will be back for our next celebration! Only downside is that the toilets are up quiet steep steps so for anyone that has difficulty with mobility may struggle with this.
