The Black Bull Boldon
98 Front St, East BoldonA nice local pub, but we were very disappointed on Christmas Eve when they suddenly called last orders at 2050, Especially as it clearly said on the board next to the bar that they were open until 2200. A few people even heard the bell, but thought it was for something else, as they didn't shout last orders, so a lot of people were left without a final drink. We then had to go to the Grey Horse along the road, which was absolutely rammed with all the people from the Black Bull. The pub was busy when they called last orders, so they must've lost out on a few hundred quid in takings as well.

The Travelling Man
Newcastle Rd, West Boldon, East BoldonCame on a Friday evening & the service was fantastic. 3 course menu £12.95 & everything was piping hot. Didn't wait long for someone to take drinks order, then food order & then 1st course came 10mins later. Lovely calm & relaxing atmosphere. This is 3rd time here & certainly won't be the last. Peppercorn sauce is the best I've had.

The Black Horse
Rectory Bank, West Boldon, East BoldonCan’t recommend highly enough. Fantastic food from a clearly ambitious, creative and professional kitchen served in a cosy setting with character complete with walls adorned with an abundance of local photography. The staff are welcoming and atmosphere homely. Out performs anywhere else in the local area for both quality and cost. Greatly enjoyed the smoked haddock and cullen skink.

1 Station Approach, East BoldonAmazing service, food tastes amazing best place in town. 100% recommend. Great friendly staff and customer service is great. I had a fairly complicated order and the staff got it spot on. Food was prepared quickly and fairly priced. Definitely will be coming more often.

Blacks Corner
1 St Bedes, East BoldonCame for cake and coffee and both were delicious and well priced. Beautiful setting with views out to the sea. The service was slow. Cakes brought over first to our table that had still not yet been cleared from the people before..one coffee brought over 15mins later and my partners forgotten about. Eventually he went up and got it off the bar. We'll give it another go but service really let the place down. If it had good then we'd have been raving about this place. Hopefully a one off..mistakes happen
