Yr Hen Efail
4 Green Lane, DolgellauWe visited after a night away around 20 mins from dolgellau and it was on the way home for us. We phoned before arriving just to check if they served breakfast as it was nearing 11:30 and they said they served it until they closed at 2 which was great. I had the veggie breakfast and my partner had the english breakfast. It was really good and exceptional for the price. \nThank you! :)

Tynygroes hotel
Ganllwyd, DolgellauThis is a hidden gem of a pub. Surrounded by easy or difficult but always breathtaking walks. A must stop when visiting coed y brenin. This pub only serves Welsh made, preservative free beers. The landlord is obviously passionate about beer. Friendly, welcoming and non judgemental, regardless how wet you or your dog is. They also serve up delicious welsh rarebit, that is so cheap it's almost offputting. Trust that they are good people, it's truly a bargain.

Cosy Takeaway
Meyrick St, DolgellauIn-laws are local and recommended this fish and chip shop to us on a visit from England. All 6x of us enjoyed the food we ordered. Pleasant staff, can use card payment, good portions re chips/sausage/fish. We did think the pots of curry/mushy peas were too small, however, food is excellent and we will definitely return when we come back to Wales. Thank you!

Y Sospan
Queen's Square, DolgellauMy first visit there with 6 friends. Downstairs was busy , we sat upstairs enjoying the atmosphere and the stunning 17th century architecture. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and excellent value. My jacket potato with coleslaw, salad , cheese and chili beef and beans was only £7;50. . A mouthwatering display of cakes tempted us, enjoyed with a pot of tea. There was a water dispenser that you could help yourself . My first but definitely not my last visit. Already planning a trip next month. The Christmas menu sounds wonderful. Three courses for £32.

Lemon Grass
Cambrian House, Finsbury Square, DolgellauDon’t pay attention to the negative reviews... this place is a gem! The food was authentic, full of flavour, and absolutely delicious. Easily one of the tastiest Indian takeaways I’ve had in a long time.
We were so grateful to find it open at 9pm, one of the only restaurants in the area still serving at that time. When collecting, it was a lovely surprise to discover the owners are from the West Midlands too such warm, friendly people who really care about what they do.
If you’re in the area and fancy a proper Indian, you won’t be disappointed!

Cross Foxes - Bar Grill Rooms
A487, Brithdir, DolgellauIf you’re anywhere near Snowdonia and don’t stop at The Cross Foxes, you’re missing out – big time. From the second you walk in, the staff make you feel like family – every single one of them. Huge shoutout to the chef too because the food here? Outstanding. Honestly, this is probably one of the best food reviews we’ve ever done. The restaurant itself is stunning – modern, spotless, and beautifully laid out. When the food arrives, it doesn’t just taste amazing – it looks like art on a plate. Perfect portion sizes, packed with flavour, and you can tell there’s passion in every dish. And here’s the kicker – if you’re travelling in a van or struggling to find a campsite, they’ll even let you stay in the car park if you grab some food or drinks. How’s that for hospitality? Combine that with the epic views of Snowdonia National Park, and you’ve got yourself a proper hidden gem. I don’t give 10/10 very often, but this place nails it. Everything is on point. Whether you’re passing through or need a place to crash for the night – do yourself a favour and come here. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5 – Flawless.
