I went to The Ship with my husband for lunch on Boxing Day. As usual, the food was very nice. I enjoyed my roast beef and he enjoyed his fish & chips. The service was as good as it could be on such a busy day, and the staff were friendly and obliging as always. My only suggestion to make it even better would be, why not have a normal-sized dinner plate for a roast meal? My husband's plate was huge, and mine was like a child's size of plate. A thoroughly enjoyable Christmas meal with excellent colleagues who combined with the ambience for a delightful evening. Meal was good and the efforts to cater for my food allergies (none of which leads to anaphylaxis) were commendable.Dietary restrictions: Milk and Soya managed without any trouble.

Probably the best family pub in East Grinstead, friendly staff, sometimes under staffed but that doesn’t prevent good service, just a lot of busy staff. Very accessible and accommodating and can generally get a table without pre-booking which is nice for spontaneous moments. All in all, a really nice pub.
