Quaint pub in gorgeous Cartmel. Proper cosy, country pub feel. Bar staff were lovely and welcoming, and so were the locals! Only had a drink here but the food sounded pretty good and did look it too! Will have to go back and try it. Visited on pie Wednesday. Good selection. Had beef/guiness, crammed with meat, very tasty, choice of potatoes, selection of mixed veg, followed by Tim's sticky toffee pudding..... yummy ? ? ? very attentive staff, one very lovely chatty girl who's at Manchester uni.Walkability: 5 minute walk from centre of village.Food & drinks: God choice of food, reasonable prices

Spending a week at Cartmel we sampled a few meals! The pig and whistle was welcoming, friendly and the food was amazing, tasty , great value!! Staff super friendly and atmosphere relaxing! Loved the menu choices as a vegetarian, also sweets were so lovely! Nothing too much trouble! Highly recommend!
