We were visiting the area for a family holiday and to my amazement managed to make a last minute New Year’s Eve booking for dinner at Romney’s. The place was understandably bustling but with a really lovely atmosphere. The staff were so welcoming to both our children, and our dog! The carvery was the best I’ve had in a long time and everything such excellent value. We’re already planning a return trip! I can’t recommend this place enough.

We were very lucky indeed. We were like very many people caught out by the snow on Saturday 2 December. We had booked a cottage in Ambleside for a week, but the road to Ambleside from the roundabout five miles from the M6 was completely blocked by snow. An absolutely superlative restaurant in every way. Delicious food, beautiful drinks and a relaxing traditional atmosphere. The staff are friendly and most courteous and offer a dedicated professional service. Upon entering we were greeted with courtesy and a warm friendly smile - demonstrating excellent customer service skills. ~We would highly recommend and shall most certainly visit again.
