We recently spent a wonderful weekend here, staying in the beautiful Rugglestone Cottage with our two dogs. The cottage is well furnished and equipped and very comfortable. We had our meals in the pub and all the food and service were excellent. There are some lovely walks onto the moors from the pub, despite the weather! We visited on Sunday lunchtime in January and the pub and garden were packed, a good sign on arrival! We were a group of 5 with three dogs, and although the pub is cosy and intimate we didn’t feel constrained. The landlady was lovely and clearly proud of the pub and its offering. Food was fantastic piping hot and delicious, it took a while, but the pub was busy and we were advised that everything was freshly prepared. I live about 10 minutes walk away from this marvellous pub. It's a great place to drop into for a pint after going on a walk. I usually sit at the bar and often get to chat with other customers and the very friendly staff, in particularly Ness the landlady who is an excellent source of local information. The draught beer is poured directly from barrels set on a low bench behind the bar.
