The Old Brewery, Rd, Wyke Rd, GillinghamJust happened to come across this cafe during a 4 day motorbike tour. Lucky find. It is fantastic and has a small collection of bikes inside which are very interesting (if that’s your thing). Biker or not, the atmosphere is excellent. The food was very good and reasonable priced.

Seafood Fish & Chips
1 Station Rd, GillinghamNot long moved to Gillingham and have been wanting to try this place for a minute. Finally got round to it tonight and I can happily say it was quite possibly one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. The owner was very friendly and polite. The cod was perfectly cooked and fresh. The batter was perfectly seasoned and it wasn’t greasy or soggy like you get in most place. The pea fritter was massive and again cooked perfectly. We also had 6 chicken strips which again were cooked perfectly and the coating was so very tasty. I’m a fish and chips snob and come from a town with award winning fish and chips and this place is easily on the same level! Will most definitely be back!

Kebab.ji (Syrian Cuisine) Restaurant
St Mary's Church, Vicarage School Room, GillinghamJust had a lovely authentic family meal. Chicken shawarmas and the shish taouk were delicious. We also had hummus and baba ganoush on the side that went perfectly with our mains. All finished off with baklava and halawa for dessert. I would definitely recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Lavender Blue Bakery
Brickfields Business Park, GillinghamReally great service, we were let down at short notice with a cake for a very special 100th birthday and lavender Blue were fantastic. Did the cake at very short notice, decorated exactly as asked and tasted amazing. The team were lovely and more than happy to help.

Maybe if you want a drink after 10pm nearest pub is the phoenix..

The Phoenix
The Square, GillinghamFOR some strange reason I have never been to Gillingham even though I live in Dorset. That was rectified recently when we decided to drive up and spend part of a day there. We visited the town's very good little museum and later had a meal in a cafe before we felt the need for a pint. With no knowledge we had to ask about local pubs and one resident recommended we try The Phoenix because it was a friendly pub where the beer was kept well. They were right on both counts with staff giving us a nice welcome and pouring me a pint which was as clear as crystal and very tasty. Fittings were simple and basic but the toilets were clean and well kept which is all you can ask of any pub you visit. Certainly we'd have no hesitation in coming back to the Phoenix when next we are in the area.

2 Station Rd, Lower, GillinghamWonderful little cafe we discovered whilst waiting for a train. Wide selection of food, incredible cake, very reasonable prices and lovely staff for whom nothing was too much trouble despite them being busy. Highly recommend!

South St, GillinghamWell I have discovered a new favourite at the Viceroy. The chicken tikka Bombay flame is an exceptional curry. Spiced somewhere between a madras and a vindaloo, the unique flavour of Naga chili pervades this beautifully balanced sauce. The baby potatoes are a delight and the curry is satisfying and leaves one feeling very content. Just add your favourite naan for a perfect meal - the price includes pilau rice.Rohim and the staff are friendly and helpful and I can recommend highly.Parking: There is both on street and council pay and display parking within a few yards
