49 High St, LyndhurstFirst time trying here for breakfast. Very friendly staff, quick, efficient and engaging. Breakfast was good, a tidy and friendly environment, nothing outstanding but above average and a warm atmosphere. I did find it a bit odd at the end though, that the menu items on the receipt do not add up to the total, and the bill was more than I had expected, I felt this wasn't handled very well when I returned to query this, which is totally justified. The gluten free options are clearly marked and they do do gluten free bread.

The Forage
39 High St, LyndhurstMy wife and I ate at The Forage last night. The evening menu was varied although my first impression was that it was slightly pricey (I still cant get my head around food inflation since Covid). I was wrong. My avocado and smoked salmon was superb - more than enough salmon and beautifully presented, the same for my wifes avocado and prawns. We both ordered lasagna (not very adventurous given the myriad of other options I admit) for main course and it arrived bubbling hot and smelling delicious. The lasagna was obviously home made and both of us failed to finish as the portions are generous. The quality though is outstanding and although the restaurant is not 'branded' Italian, this pasta dish is one of the best I have eaten outside Italy.
The staff were friendly, polite and good humoured and asked us how much time we would like between courses so we felt we could eat as quickly or as slowly as we wanted. Unfortunately neither of us had room for desert despite the best efforts of the waitress (I suspect the owner or manager) to tempt us with the various cakes and deserts. Maybe next time....
The restaurant is not lavishly furnished or pretentious and has a more casual atmosphere, maybe typical for an eatery that is open from breakfast time until late evening. Perfect though for my wife and I.
I am pleased to recommend The Forage. We are only in the area for a weeks holiday so unfortunately wont have time to call again this time but the restaurant would definitely be a regular for us if we were local and we will return I am sure when we are next in the New Forest.

The Greenwood Tree
65 High St, LyndhurstA really lovely cafe in Lyndhurst. We stopped there around 4pm on a Monday afternoon, it was quiet but very welcoming and the staff are very friendly. We did wait a long time for our drinks considering it was so quiet but they apologised.
Would recommend it. I had the green smoothie which was very good.

La Pergola Restaurant
Southampton Rd, LyndhurstHaving researched where best to eat in the area we went for lunch at La Pergola and ordered a pizza and the house special whole sole in capper butter and it was superb. Highly recommend for excellent traditional Italian dishes, very good personal table service and comfort. Unique restaurant. Lovely outdoor seating. Good value for money for great food. Highly recommend.

Renoufs Cheese and Wine Bar
23 High St, LyndhurstShould have been a 4 star review but let down by taking 80 to get the food after arriving at the restaurant. However the food was amazing, such a delicious variety of cheeses and meats. We had a sharing board for 6 shared between 7 and there was plenty to go round. Asked for extra crackers and they were very accomodating for one of our party who needed gluten free. Wines were great too

Beaulieu Rd, LyndhurstWe came here for the food, but in reality it was more of an all-inclusive experience. We spent the afternoon here, enjoying the good food and vibes. The focaccia starter was oily, but overall tasted great with the mushroom gratin. We tried the vegetarian à la carte menu because the set menu was mixed veg and non-veg items.
Overall, we enjoyed the food, especially the veg hot pot, aubergines and vegetable pasta.
Highly recommended, bit expensive but lovely to go for a special occasion.

The service was brilliant, couldn't ask for friendlier staff
The food is divine, the salmon tikka is one of the best things I have ever eaten. The mushroom rice is the best I have had, and I have had many! For mains, definitely try one of the chefs recommendations, very authentic and nice amount of heat!
Highly recommend this place to anyone, you won't be disappointed!

Green Dragon
Canterton Ln, Brook, HampshireStopped off for a quick lunch. The staff are amazing and friendly. Would definitely recommend table 52 as the place to sit (all other tables are just as wonderful) but table 52 is somewhere special.
I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the team especially Alfie during the difficulties of another party being disgustingly rude.
These guys maintained calm and professional.

New Forest Inn Lyndhurst
2 Boult Bee Cottages, Emery Down, LyndhurstRight in the route of some incredible forest walks.
Massive garden out the back. Charming decor inside. Comfortable chairs and tables and the rooms are well laid out. Extremely dog friendly (dog biscuits on the bar, offered to fill our dog bowl). Beer is cold and clearly lines are well maintained. Food was great and portions filled us (we’re 2 people in our 30’s with big appetites that had just been out for a 4 hour hike).
To the person who complained about the price of the food a few reviews down, I don’t know what you were smoking or what backstreet cafes you’ve been eating in recently but the value for money was absolutely spot on and you should bang another star on that review.
Now to the staff. Absoultely unreal. Nothing was a bother or too much trouble. Friendly, attentive and professional without being intrusive. Literally perfect pub service.
Can’t wait for come back (and we’ve not even left yet)

All the staff were wonderful.
Inside felt warm, welcoming and, whilst small, well spaced so that we were able to have a relaxed and romantic dinner together.

Woodside Lodge, Minstead, Newtown, LyndhurstLove this place. Our second stay. So peaceful and quiet. Loads of lovely animals. Hubby had a bug and reptile handling experience. Wonderful hosts. Great place for a getaway. Going back next year, booked already!

71 High St, LyndhurstWe stopped at this pub for a quick drink while out walking. The food going to other customers looked amazing so we decided to give it a try thr following day... that day was today and OMG what a meal. We all agreed, there was 4 of us, we were all impressed with our meals, the portion sizes are large, the taste and presentation was just amazing. The price well worth it. Definitely worth a try. We had fish and chips and chicken burger..... not one of us finished our meal but not one of complained about a single thing.
Thank you to The staff at the Mailman but especially TO THE CHEF amazing, this pub has an amazing chef in you..... I think you deserve a pay rise, you are well worth it.....

Afternoon Tea at Forest Lodge Hotel
Pikes Hill, Romsey Rd, LyndhurstWe had a lovely afternoon tea at Forest Lodge. Service was exceptional, and the food was great, especially the scones. We were offered more tea a couple times, and they did everything to cater for our dietary preferences despite not being warned of them beforehand. The hotel and restaurant are quite smart too. Would recommend if in the area.

26 High St, LyndhurstGreat place for breakfast when in the area. Both the English and Full English options were delicious, made with quality ingredients, freshly prepared, piping hot and really tasty. Lovely pot of tea to accompany it too.
Dog friendly, and tables didn’t seem too packed in either. Cakes looked delicious but managed to resit temptation on that front on this occasion!

The Oak Inn, Lyndhurst
Pinkney Ln, Bank, LyndhurstStopped in during a cycle ride. Staff were excellent and kind. Snack lunch of smoked salmon baguette and chips was excellent. Toilets were clean. Quite a few other cyclists mixed with locals gave a nice atmosphere. Will definitely return in the future.

Sweet Chillies
33 High St, LyndhurstWe had only planned on popping in to Lyndhurst for a few minutes. However, we found this lovely shop. We were only wanting a teacoffee but once we saw the lovely cakes on offer we had to indulge. I am very disappointed that we do not live closer to Lyndhurst because we would certainly make this a weekly place to have a snack. The coffee was excellent. Served hot with a lovely biscuit on the side. My husband had a toasted tea cake and declared it to be the best he had eaten in years. I had a slice of their lovely Dorset apple cake. It was beyond good. I was extremely impressed. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and could not have done more for us. We would go out of our way to make sure we come here again.
