Restaurants in Holt
The Ship Inn
The Ship Inn, The St, Weybourne, HoltWe visited the Ship Inn three times for supper, while staying in Weybourne. The pub itself has two rooms: a bar area, and a dining area (in which dogs are not allowed - the pub is otherwise very dog-friendly). There are also tables outside, and a couple of 4-seater "pods", providing extra accommodation for diners. On each occasion, we had mains and drinks, which with service came to a very reasonable £25 or so a head. We thought the food was very good: well done and filled burgers with god chips; a very nice Sunday lunch; and then fish & chips and a sweet potato tagine. Service was friendly and efficient, and very professional (we were impressed by the obvious training of the youthful staff). There's a small car park attached to the pub - essential as there's really not much parking available otherwise in the village. The pub is right next to the "Coast-hopper" coastal bus stop. It's worth booking well ahead at weekends, and during the summer months, as it is a very popular place to eat. Recommended.

Meadowsweet
37 Norwich Rd, HoltLooking for a fine dining restaurant in North Norfolk? Go to Meadowsweet, you will not be disappointed!
All the staff are very attentive to any needs or questions you may have, and I was also treated to some recipie books to peruse during course (as a solo diner, this was a first for me and a very nice touch!)
And the food... Just amazing. Fresh local produce, and creative dishes which capture the best of the ingredients.
This is easily one of the best dining experiences I have had, and I will definitely be going back.

The Moorings
High St, Blakeney, HoltI used to come to the Moorings a few years ago with my family and remember absolutely loving it. And the quality is still there in abundance. A really excellent high quality meal, in particular I loved the scallops for starter, sea bass for main and honestly I have not had as good a desert as the Brulee raspberry tart with vanilla ice cream - absolutely exceptional with the top texture of the brulee cracking! I will be here next year - make sure to book in advance ?
We had starter, main and desert + drink.

Alberts Fishbar
22 Albert St, HoltOne of the nearest Fish and Chip shops to where we were staying. The fish was fabulous and 4 meals at a good price. Unfortunately we all have our favourite chip shop for chips, and these didn't have that fluffy potato chip shop requirement, but with lovely staff, made to order fish and reasonably priced, it's still worth a visit for anyone in the area.

The Wandering Whelk
7-8 Chapel Yard, HoltLovely quaint coffee shop. Welcomed and had table cleaned for us upon entry. Food looked amazing. Didn’t eat as had just had lunch. But would have had a bite to eat if was hungry as was very tempting to indulge in some more food lol. Flat white was beautiful looking as well as tasted like a real flat white should. I don’t come to holt a great deal. But when I’m next here. First stop will definitely be here. And trying out the sausage roll I could see while enjoying my flat white.

Salthouse, HoltLove this place, fresh local seafood at the best prices around the area. Don’t expect glamorous restaurant setting as it’s just tables and chairs outside. But the food is well worth it and makes up.

On the expensive side, but warranted by the quality

The Core
3 Appleyard, HoltFirst visit - a personal opinion.
Somehow, we have always missed this cafe while visiting Holt in the past. But today, whilst looking for a supermarket, there it was.
The sandwich my partner had was lovely - though the addition of some crisps or salad would have been a cool extra. Because it was a little spenny - personal opinion / for us anyway - but the taste was amazing
I had the tortilla which came with rocket and the most wonderful of dressing. Very tasty and well priced.
The tables were a little sticky, my napkin stuck to the table. Saw the young chap wiping down a table and no liquid seemed to be on the cloth which kind of explained it.
The staff, however, were lovely. And service was very quick
Will we return? Perhaps ?

The Retreat Cabins B&B
Bridge House Bridge Road, High Kelling, HoltThe Retreat is a small destination of two wooden Lodge, fully equipped for 'bed and breakfast'.
The beds are really comfortable, the breakfasts are superb ; and the hosts, Jacqui and Matt settee really accommodating. The site looks out over quiet countryside, however, phone and Internet signals are excellent. Each lodge has its own mini garden.
They are only about 5 minutes from Holt, A Georgian town which is superb from which to explore North Norfolk.
We cannot recommend too highly, and have been for short breaks several times.

Il Calabrese
3 Franklyns Yard, HoltDecent pizza and service. However, the pricing is too high. I understand that the restaurant is closing slowly due to lack of demand - whilst appreciated that the footfall in Holt is low but if they lowered the prices, I suspect that they will find more customers. Especially as there are no other Pizzarias closeby.

Dun Cow Salthouse
Purdy St, Salthouse, HoltThe staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was overall very tasty. However, I was disappointed to have felt a bit rushed. We had the table for an hour and a half but were asked twice by different staff members if we were ready for our mains despite still clearly eating our starters. We also started our table reservation early as we were the first of the day. Other than that a great experience.

The Kings Head
19 High St, HoltHave used the kings Head on several occasions for lunch but never in the evening it didn't disappoint, had a lovely meal, starters whitebait and pork bites both tasty and very generous portions, I usually stay away from steak when out as more often than not I'm disappointed I decided however to try the rump steak which turned out to be a good choice it was full of flavour and extremely tender i asked if the meat was sourced from a local butcher which it is. My wife had a grilled chicken dish in a bun which she said was cooked to perfection and delicious. Unfortunately no room for pudding probably on another visit we would share a starter as the portions are very generous both starters and mains. Service was very attentive had a young lady serve us who was relatively new to waitressing and she did a great job. Really enjoyed our Saturday evening at the Kings Head in Holt great food, service and value for money. We will return....

Taste of India
31 Bull St, HoltFood was ready to collect exactly on time. Enjoyed a selection of regular starters which ticked the box although the veg samosas lacked a bit of flavour. The jewel in the crown was the main course of chicken tikka adraki. Always good to see non generic dishes on a menu. Would eat from here again when in the area.
