Barton, Richmondwhat a great village pub with well kept beers, ales and the Guinness is spot on. Must be one of the last true drinking pubs with a really friendly staff and customers.. in a lovely village with a nice green and an old water splash ford.. A great spot for cyclists and walkers due especially to being located on the old A1

Sedbury Layby Transport Cafe
A66, A66, DarlingtonIt must be 10 years ago I stopped here in my truck on the way up to Scotland. I had a sausage and egg bap and a cup of tea and it was delicious. I made a comment about how good the teaspoon was (it had an extra long handle so you could reach the bottom of the cup without getting your fingers wet). I said “I bet these get stolen often “. The guy serving, without saying a word cleaned the spoon, dried it and put in a spoon sized white paper bag and handed it to me. Brilliant! The spoon lives an Asia now, gets used daily and is very happy as is it’s owner. I’d probably cry if I ever lost it. A small token of generosity and good will goes a long way and isn’t forgotten as easily as people might think. Thank you ? ?
