I was surprised that people aren't falling over themselves to eat here, it was quite quiet for a Friday evening, but the food was lovely, and the bread that came with the olive board was stupendously tasty. Prices were good, I wish I'd had room for pudding.

Whole aesthetic is really cool, I love it.
Only thing I didnt like was the music was really loud. It was like having a meal in a nightclub.

Greenstones Rd, RedcarI have to say this was a last minute change of venue for my husbands 60th birthday , which Rachael (the land lady ) accommadated us unbelieveably well . I cant say enough how much she did to help and how very much it was appreciated . All this was within a few hours on a bank holiday weekend . We had a reserved space for the party so she had to accommadate the walk ins and change seating plan on bookings for sunday lunch . Amazing place , cosy and welcoming . Outstanding service . Fab fab fab . Thankyou to all xxx

Coast Rd, RedcarWe stop at The Stray whenever we go for a run along the seafront. It's always busy, but the staff are welcoming and there's a good choice of drinks and hot and cold food. The sausage butties come with plenty of sausage and if, like me, you struggle to open sachets of ketchup, you can just use the good old sauce bottle instead. Yesterday I ordered 2 butties, 4 coffees and a cheese scone. The bill was a very reasonable £20. I highly recommend the coffee, I like it strong and ordered an Americano with an extra shot - perfect. The cheese scone was fresh and very cheesy
Dogs are not allowed in the cafe but are welcome to sit at the outdoor tables with their owners

42 Walnut Grove, RedcarMing kitchen is likely the best in Redcar, or at least the one I trust the most. However, it is also pretty expensive so couldn't afford to go frequently. We ordered a Cantonese sweet and sour dish last night with egg fried rice and a sweet and sour general dish with an extra portion of satay sauce. The Cantonese dish was tasty but needed a little more sauce. I was trying to ask on the phone if the egg fried rice was included in the dish and thr girl misunderstood. It ended up costing us an extra £1.20 each for the egg fried rice. I think when your dish is already £8.30, it should come with it or be a minimal supplement. We did enjoy our meal either way & this place would remain my place of choice. It's far better than Fisherman Square. I wouldn't mind seeing a honey-chilli dish on the menu.

The spring roll was humongous, prawn toast was beautiful, I didn't sample the rest of the platter as the house special rice was acked with meat. I wasn't keen on the prawns, a little more cooking would have been perfect, the pork was my favourite, beef was tender and chicken succulent. I ordered here as my usual was not taking deliveries, I'm glad it wasn't as I will definitely be ordering from here again. Thank you

The Gypsy Rover
60 Station Rd, RedcarWe went to Redcar for new year and struggled to find a family pub. We called into the Gypsy Rover and the owner let us in. (Daughter is 12 and spends all her time in her phone!)
We tried a few different beers on tap, the regulars were all friendly and welcoming too. We was even invited back for the New years afternoon singer.
The alcohol was not over priced, the landlady was lovely, if we return I would definatly use this little bar.
Thank you, I think if we hadn't found this little gem we would have gone home sooner!

3 Queen St, RedcarWent here for first time as tried last summer and was too hot inside. Today it was perfect air-conditioned, I nearly said 4 for atmosphere as it had the smell in the air of an old Redcar night club. I almost asked if it was one! But refrained. Strangely after a short while I didn't notice any smell. The toilets coincidentally were really good, like a hotel, or dare I say it, night club as there was different decoderants in there and the decor was great and clean. A first for me in a coffee shop. The menu is well priced, better than most places really and the Yorkshire Scoundrel & butter i had was beautiful, as was the Smoothie Pineapple drink (pictured). The menu options are good, nothing so obscure, just items you want to eat from toasties to cakes to bacon buns etc. The seating is spacious, the radio easy listening at the right volume and the lady at the till was very kind and hospitable. The table I sat at was clean, as was everywhere despite some old staining on table. Also the windows are darkened glass to the outside so you can enjoy a secret little hideaway in peace from Redcar. Recommended 100%

The Smugglers Den - Micro Bar Marske
7 Redcar Rd, Marske-by-the-Sea, RedcarWe popped in here for a pint on a very wet Saturday and loved the place. The manager was really friendly and helpful. The building is quirky but not so much that it's not for for purpose and is the sort of place I would love to spend my weekends by a fire drinking with friends. We particularly loved the faux barrel fronts for the cask beers behind the bar.
The location is great with a decent sized free car park a couple of minutes walk away.
Three real ales on, all of which were from three brothers. If I had one minor suggestion it would be to maybe have two Three Brothers on permanently and have a rotating guest ale (because obviously this would suit me more ?).
Overall a thoroughly great experience and one will are looking to repeat, but when I'm not driving, in the very near future. Can't recommend you trying this place enough if you are nearby or passing ... Especially if you love your ale and some quirky surroundings.

When we first walked in we both looked at each other and said "What The Hell" as the band was on The Thunderbirds, they were in the middle of signing"Nana, Nana, Nana Batman". We bought a drink and the band were brilliant.
The staff were very friendly and also the customers. They all loved my wife's southern accent and we had a great time.
The band a few days later not so good "David Bowie".
Next time I'm up in North East I'll definitely be calling in.
We didn't eat there, but that's only because I didn't realise they do food. I know for next time.

The Yorkshire Lass
New Marske, RedcarYesterday 28th November we had a wake here. The two staff who were there were amazing,we couldn't have asked for more. We asked for a buffet to be provided and it was very nice. Not sure if dogs are allowed but would be a good spot to stop on a dog walk ? we didn't have food but others around us did and it looked like proper pub grub! Will definitely be back! Base Pizzeria & Bar
125 High St, Marske-by-the-Sea, RedcarThis was our first visit to Base Pizzeria. As soon as we walked in we were immediately impressed with the decor, ambience, music and spotless cleanliness. The staff immediately greeted us and knew of our reservation. They were very attentive throughout and nothing was too much trouble. The food and drinks arrived promptly and everything we had was absolutely amazing and delicious ?. Such fabulous presentation and great portion sizes. Just love the rustic plates and cups. Toilets were immaculate too.
We will most definitely be going back to Base. What a cool logo they have too!

Cleveland, 18-20 Queen St, RedcarI can’t comment on the hotel itself as I haven’t stayed here, but I have visited several times for Sunday lunch. One Sunday in Redcar we originally went to a restaurant on the front, but there was over an hour wait for food due to only one chef being in. We were recommended O’Grady’s instead, so we headed over.
When we arrived, there were no free tables in the restaurant, but we were offered seats in the bar, which we didn’t mind at all. Unfortunately for me, the beef had already sold out, and since I don’t eat pork or gammon, I chose the turkey—even though I’m not usually a fan. It turned out to be absolutely delicious, so much so that I still crave it now! We’ve been back several times since because we just love it ?.
We’ve eaten in both the bar and the restaurant. The restaurant is definitely more comfortable and inviting, but I actually prefer the way the meals are served in the bar—already plated and ready to enjoy.
I’m really keen to visit during the week sometime to try something from their main menu. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, which makes the experience even better.

There is a lot of variety above the seating, including a mock train map of the local pubs. Seating is really comfortable and staff were so helpful, serving me a cider at the listed price when it was accidentally on for less than they should have charged!
