Just popped for casual drinks so I can’t comment on the food but the ambience is great - a lively local pub with staff who are super friendly, super helpful and obviously well educated on customer service. When you go to so many places where the decor is cool but the customer service poor, it makes a change to go to a bar that is cosy and looks nice AND also be made to feel like nothing is too much trouble.
After walking 4 of Edinburgh's 7 hills, I needed a break and sustenance. The Hermitage Bar was in the right place at the right time and absolutely delivered. Great small plates selection and beers, including my new favourite Belgian beer Heverlee (works as a shandy!). Big, open, characterful bar space, friendly staff, delicious mushrooms on toast with proper chips

5 stars on all fronts!\\nMy partner and I always wanted to take a look and we're glad we did!\\nStaff were really lovely, welcoming and friendly.\\nDrinks selection was great\\nLovely atmosphere\\nNanchos we're great! Sadly only one gluten free option for bar food, but at least there is one\\n\\nReally glad we visited and look forward to visiting again
