17 S Main St, Wigtown, Newton StewartDropped in here for some coffee and cake and we weren't disappointed. A lot, and I mean a lot of different cakes and bakes to choose from and they are delicious. Staff are very friendly. Some parts of the cafe are quite cosy, the tables through the back are some what more open/cafe style, but still pleasant. Would definitely go back.

18 South Cres, Garlieston, Newton StewartWe visited The Harbour Inn in Garlieston on a visit to the town. It is a lovely, relaxed pub with friendly staff. We also had dinner and it was really nice. It was great that we could take our dog in with us and the staff gave him a couple of biscuits which was really nice. Would recommend when visiting the town.

St Ninians Tearoom
Saint Ninian's Tearoom, Isle of WhithornThis community cafe is wonderful. We were there on a weekday in February and it was busy, Mums with babies, couples, people on their own, locals and visitors, we were all made welcome. We had the settees by the window and sat with our dogs, who behaved very well and we given biscuits. The food was excellent, a good menu and I can’t remember when I last had such a great home made fish pie. My friend had cheese on toast, which was delicious. The staff were all friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was great, the coffee and food were reasonably priced and we really enjoyed ourselves. Well done, we will be back.

Cafe Rendezvous
2 Agnew Cres, Wigtown, Newton StewartThis was the only place open on a damp day. It was bustling with people enjoying their food. We were given a friendly welcome from a gentleman behind the counter with the tempting cakes and biscuits. We both opted for a smoked salmon salad with avocado and it was as good as anywhere. The cafe latte and decaf tea helped to restore us after the chill wind in the square. I had a chat with a group of 3 behind us about their new local house, just built. We departed contented with things generally and glad to receive Scottish hospitality again.

The Crown Hotel
36 Main St, Glenluce, Newton StewartWhat a gem! Greeted with welcoming smiles and engaging conversations from staff and locals enjoying a drink or two. Driven 6 hours to meet a friend passing through. So glad this was our destination food our food. Menu had more than enough selection of snacks, light bites, staters, mains and puddings. We all ate different foods: garlic mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, crab cakes (starters), double burger, crispy chicken, steak pie (mains). Best steak pie I’ve eaten (England or Scotland), YUM YUM YUM ? All food was served hot and plentiful. Nobody in our party of 4 were disappointed. So plentiful, not one of us hearty eaters could manage a pud! I was so looking forward to trying the sticky toffee pudding!! The bonus…such reasonable prices, great value for your pennies. A fabulous evening, you’ll be glad you popped in for a drink or meal ?

Tasty Bites
5 The Square, Port William, Newton StewartOK I will say this, lovely big roll full portions, but what made it for me was the girl who was serving, she was on her own and quite bussy, but still had time to be nice and polite and smile ? which some shops and business could take note of, even though she was under pressure, top marks to the young girl, and if I was in the trade I'd be offering her a job.

India Gate
9 Victoria St, Newton StewartFood is very nice in here ..... and you get plenty of it.The place could do with a few nice touches ie better cutlery, ice and lemon in the water, some authentic asian decor/music etcService could be better .... I like my food served from a trolley or trays not just brought out by waiter holding 2 plates .... just isn't professional in my view.On the whole we will return but maybe just for a takeaway for the time being
