7 High St, PenicuikA surprise 60th was excellent with the starters being presented like buffet absolutely delicious. Main courses were all enjoyed by all. Music for happy birthday cake was great.

Pentland Hills Cafe Express
Floterstone information centre, Edinburgh, PenicuikExcellent courteous service with a smile. Food delicious and cakes to die for. Best coffee for miles around including Edinburgh. Interior dog friendly but compact. If the weather is ok plenty of outside seating. Highly recommend as a filling station after your hill walking.

The Old Crown Inn
13-13a High St, PenicuikUpdate from 10 months ago….. I come in every Wednesday now if I can, Sammy is fantastic on the bar and with all the customers. I’ve got to know most of the customers now (thanks to Sammy!) and made lots of friends. It’s home away from home. Wonderful pub and always a warm welcome ?

Spice House Penicuik
28 The Square, PenicuikWe fancied something different for a change for dinner. First time we have used Spice House for a takeaway. We were not disappointed thats for sure. We ordered Duck spring rolls for a starter then Special Pad Thai Prawns and a Spice House Special Biryani. There was so much food the tops of the containers were bulging. All I can say is wow, more than enough duck spring rolls, the Biryani is the best I have had in a long time , packed with lots of tasty meat, my wife commented on the plentiful amount of prawns that was in her Pad Thai Prawns. We will definitely use again and highly recommend.

The Roadhouse
136 John St, PenicuikIt was quiet when we went in but soon filled up a bit. The staff that were on were great. One was in training. He was well supervised. The menu has a great variety and is well priced. We had the mac and cheese. Choice of chip cut too. Will definitely be going back

157 John St, PenicuikI’ve ordered from here a few times now and honestly, it’s an absolutely brilliant little sweet shop.
The prices are really reasonable and the portion sizes are massive. You definitely get your money’s worth. Every order has been spot on and you can tell they actually care about what they’re sending out.
Megan, who takes the orders over the phone, is always so polite and patient. She never rushes you, even when you’re taking ages to decide what you want, guilty ?. She genuinely couldn’t be any nicer.
And Ross the delivery driver… what a guy. Always smiling, always in a good mood, and just comes across as such a genuinely happy, friendly person. It really does make a difference when the person delivering your food is cheerful and speaks so highly about the place. You don’t get that everywhere.
If you can, give him a tip. Drivers don’t always get tips these days with contactless and app payments, and it’s definitely appreciated.
Would 100 percent recommend. Great sweets, great portions, and even better people behind it ?

Fishers Tryst
35 Bridge St, Milton Bridge, PenicuikStumbled across this place on our last night in Scotland. Such a shame as it ended up being our favourite spot for a beer! The owner, and the locals are all very welcoming and up for a chat with whoever walks in. A classic pub with a great vibe! Thanks for having us :)

Lord Of The Noodles Penicuik
15 High St, PenicuikAfter recently moving to the area and not knowing what to try we went for lord of the noodles based on the reviews! We were pleased that it did not disappoint! Really enjoyed the boneless munchie box, chow main and special fried rice! Food arrived piping hot although it did take an hour (Saturday night) overall extremely pleased and will order again! Thanks

2-4 The Square, PenicuikExcellent. We had great service and food from this takeaway on Saturday night. The small portion of donner and large chicken kebab were delicious. Huge portions.The salad was fresh and the dressings were good.

i enjoy singapore rice noodles normally served with spice . i alway ask for it to be not as spicy . Today no spice —- absolutely amazing . all the other dishes went very well with the noodles . i’m always looking to try different dishes. . if uour reading this you should try it for wee change . sinipore rice noodles normally served spicy- ask for no spice rather than rice !!

Food Lodge Restaurant
1 High St, PenicuikNew to the area, we decided to try The Food Lodge last night. I had the best ever Vegan Beancurd and Sweetcorn soup plus Vegan Chicken in Szechuan Sauce with Coconut Rice. My partner had Chicken Satay starter and Chicken Curry with fried rice and we both can say it was all was delicious. It was cold but this did not detract from the food. The waitress was very helpful and answered all my vegan questions. Looking forward to eating there again.

That good ordered another 2 to reheat tomorrow for lunch or dinner tomorrow, staff always cheerful and attentive weather you order on phone or visit the shop they always good banter.

Marmaris Penicuik Takeaway
24 High St, PenicuikGot a large chicken kebab, Saturday 17 august night, was beautiful and large, chicken lovley, was that nice ordered the same next night, massive difference, different cut of chicken, different chicken altogether. Plus looked like a small when ordered large. If I for once thought I'd have this problem would have took a picture of Saturday night's, compared to our small Sunday night ones, £28 sat night with a bottle of iron bru. Then we spent another £24 on the Sunday plus a missing sauce. Inconsistency let's this place down, unfortunately.
