Fearn by Tain, TainWould give this 6 stars if possible. What a phenomenal stay we had! The staff was excellent and catered to our every need. The house itself has the most unique and interesting design I've ever stayed in. Different rooms throughout the house modeled after a different part of the whisky making process.The whisky bar in the Gold Room was exceptional. Knowledgeable staff could sit and talk about whisky for ages! Learn about it, taste different drams, etc.The food was also very high-end. 5 star. Though we only had the breakfast. Best croissants in Scotland made at this little house!

The Oystercatcher
Main St, Portmahomack, TainIntimate service from Susan who has waited so attentively on me and my friends, just as she has 17 years ago when I was last here. There are freshly baked bread and home made butter, and there are still the lovely taster of carrot bacon, cold cullen skink, and fresh asparagus. I love the tasteful oysters from Cape Wrath. Connie, my San Francisco Hongkonger friend since Year 1 had them grilled, and her husband David had a Cock-a-leekie. Then my venison shank was so juicy and full of game flavour different from any I have had in Manchester. Connie's first haggis and David's seafood thermidor were very well received and they both said the thermidor is so different from ones in California and haggis so unusual and different and yet just like a flavoursome mince for the clapshot and nothing to be afraid of! We are so full after we just had nice herbal tea and coffee to round up a very nice welcome to Scotland but also such a nice reunion with Susan, only that her husband is camera-shy. I am so grateful for such a nice evening with good food and good company with Susan.

Pipers Coffee House
25 Lamington St, TainLovely, friendly staff. They are dog friendly! And even gave my dog some gravy bone treats in her own little dish. A really good breakfast roll but the star of the show had to be the desserts, all of my family were left wanting more for in the future.

Balintore Inn
East St, Balintore, TainCalled in whilst in the area in our motorhome, we asked if we could stay in their carpark amd order food. What a lovely friendly welcome, with no hesitation on saying yes to stay. Had a great chat with the owner Mike, tried a couple of different larger. The food was really lovely. Yes I would definitely recommend and return.

Station Rd, TainExcellent service, friendly and chatty. Made a fabulous eatery even nicer. \nOnce a Station House now a great place for food and drinks. Station memorabilia Signs, photographs, old guards bags and lamps! meets comfortable dining. Really good prices and value for money. We had a haggis panini with onions and marmalade plus salad. Will return whenever we are in the area. Restroom great too, very clean !

Mansfield Castle
Scotsburn Rd, TainWe enjoyed our stay at Mansfield castle very much. It was a very pleasant surprise considering some of the negative comments which were very unwarranted.
Our experience was positive from the start and wish we stayed longer.
Wonderful staff who work very hard. Room was very spacious and loved the antique furniture. We had 2 delicious meals which were well priced. Breakfast was lovely and served in the sunny dining room by a friendly server.
