Fearn by Tain, TainWould give this 6 stars if possible. What a phenomenal stay we had! The staff was excellent and catered to our every need. The house itself has the most unique and interesting design I've ever stayed in. Different rooms throughout the house modeled after a different part of the whisky making process.The whisky bar in the Gold Room was exceptional. Knowledgeable staff could sit and talk about whisky for ages! Learn about it, taste different drams, etc.The food was also very high-end. 5 star. Though we only had the breakfast. Best croissants in Scotland made at this little house!

Pipers Coffee House
25 Lamington St, TainLovely, friendly staff. They are dog friendly! And even gave my dog some gravy bone treats in her own little dish. A really good breakfast roll but the star of the show had to be the desserts, all of my family were left wanting more for in the future.

The Oystercatcher
Main St, Portmahomack, TainWe loved our visit , the food and service was excellent. We really enjoyed the whole lobster and scallops and they also did a brilliant kids menu. If you're in Portmahomack it's worth trying to book a table but book early as it books up at least a month ahead in the summer.

Without reservation the staff were extremely nice and arranged a late table for us. The service continued to be really friendly and pleasant
Food was great, the scallops special, thr steak, the lobster, and the home made deserts- all was just great.

Balintore Inn
East St, Balintore, TainCalled in whilst in the area in our motorhome, we asked if we could stay in their carpark amd order food. What a lovely friendly welcome, with no hesitation on saying yes to stay. Had a great chat with the owner Mike, tried a couple of different larger. The food was really lovely. Yes I would definitely recommend and return.

Very nice and quaint, spacious and quiet, with a view directly (for fans like my mum) of the train tracks!
Excellent location, and very friendly staff :-D
We ate: soup of the day (with spicy sweet potatoes... maybe a little too spicy for us) and Beer Battered Chicker Goujons. All good.
Then they helped us choose the whisky, looking on the dedicated menu for the one that best matched the flavours we were looking for.
A great resource for Tain (although a little expensive...) ;-)

6 Viewfield Rd, TainGreat option in Tain. Heather and her staff are welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Plenty of info provided in advance and good dinner options and a hearty filling breakfast available. Highly recommended.

Harry Gow Bakery - Tain
8 High St, Tainwe are travelling around Scotland and have just come across this lovely little bakery. When we walked in, the staff were really pleasant and welcoming. we looked around and to be fair everything looked delicious. We had the tuna and cheese panini which they heat for you and a drink, then we seen these amazing cream filled round cakes that looked like doughnuts but aren't OMG they are amazing. please have one for now and take one home lol. Lovely place xx

1-3 High St, TainVisited on Tuesday morning and bought various pies and a had to have a couple of cream cakes, and all I can say is "ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS" can't wait for my nxt visit in a few weeks mmmmm

Mansfield Castle
Scotsburn Rd, TainWe enjoyed our stay at Mansfield castle very much. It was a very pleasant surprise considering some of the negative comments which were very unwarranted.
Our experience was positive from the start and wish we stayed longer.
Wonderful staff who work very hard. Room was very spacious and loved the antique furniture. We had 2 delicious meals which were well priced. Breakfast was lovely and served in the sunny dining room by a friendly server.
