Restaurants in Tomintoul
Clockhouse Restaurant
The Square, Tomintoul, BallindallochRestaurant is really tasty and it serves the best ever mashed potatoes! I seriously never eaten so good mash potatoes in my life! I had chicken & leek pie for main and the mash potatoes were as a side. The price of food is also really good I stopped there not planned, driving on the way home after skiing and road closure tired & exhausted. The servis lady was also welcoming & really accomodating. I will definitely will stop there again while passing by the next time.

Bertie's Bar
Mar Rd, Braemar, BallaterBertie's Bar was at the top of my list during my trip to Scotland. I was expecting one of the greatest experiences of my life and I'd be lying if I told you those expectations weren't absolutely blown out of the water in every conceivable way.
The philosophy that this bar operates on is one of absolute passion in whisky. Not just that; Angus elevated the experience and made every moment I spent there a wonder.
I've tried a lot of whisky, but this place made me feel like a novice.

The Drawing Room
Mar Rd, Braemar, BallaterAfter a misty walk along the Dee, Mom and I settled into the Drawing Room’s scarlet-paneled salon, where a fireplace crackled beneath a discreet Picasso. Our afternoon began with the hotel’s one-hour art tour, stories of Jacobite relics and contemporary pieces that primed the palate, before we were ushered to starched linens for the famed tea service.
The spread felt like Highlands couture: peat-smoked salmon on rye, dainty coronation-chicken bites, and still-warm scones that let clotted cream do the talking. Attentive yet unhurried service kept dishes rotating without the hovering you sometimes get at five-star teas.
Details matter here: vegan and gluten-free towers appear on request, dogs are welcomed in the lobby set-up, and reservations do fill fast. Price hovers around £55, which feels fair once you factor the décor, live strings, and the ease of wandering straight upstairs afterward instead of wrangling a taxi. When the rain hits Braemar and you need refinement without fuss, pull up a tartan armchair and let the Drawing Room do the rest, y’all.
