The Highlanders Bakehouse
Ben Avon, Crathie, BallaterVisited 6.1.24 for lunch after going the Balmoral Castle. We chose this cafe rather than the Balmoral cafe based on reviews and weren’t disappointed. Plenty of choice of cakes, scones. Soup of the day and bacon and egg rolls were delicious. Lovely, snug and warm inside with throws on chairs too for extra comfort. Staff lovely, polite and friendly. I would highly recommend visiting if you are anywhere close to this place. Noted also there were plenty of locals having bags full of takeaway food. Very reasonably priced and good sized portions.

The Green Inn
9 Victoria Rd, BallaterWe have been visiting Ballater for many years but have just discovered this wee gem. Trying to find something different for hogmanay, we tried out their festive hogmanay menu. It did not disappoint. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we walked in the door and we thoroughly enjoyed every course. Fabulous atmosphere, amazing staff and delicious food. We will definitely be back. Happy New Year. Thanks to the Green Inn for kicking off our NY celebrations in style.

Shorty’s Of Ballater
25 Bridge St, Ballater??? ???? ???? ????? ????????? ? - I was let down for a Christmas order of gifts for the dogs (the rescues first Christmas), so I contacted Shorty's with a long shot request the day before Christmas Eve, I'd no idea they even did doggies Christmas but boy did they save they day! They so kindly delivered their last 2 Christmas stockings from their Ballater shop to the Aboyne one so I could collect them, and they also provided doggie pancakes - the blurred photos demonstrate how tasty those pancakes were! ??Not only that but visiting their shop in Aboyne was a joy - such lovely happy helpful staff with great banter.Thank you for everything Shorty's - this years' order will be in in good time - I'd do it now if I could! ?

The Bothy Ballater
43 Bridge St, BallaterLovely little coffee shop and cafe on Ballater’s very short main drag. It’s attached to an outdoor shop, which is never a great idea: you go in for a latte and come out with a £300 Patagonia jacket.Great service from the ladies and tasty food, all made more pleasant by the roaring open fire.

Clachan Grill
5 Bridge Square, BallaterThere was a rather strange sauce on my burger and the roast beef my husband ordered was a little tough! Service was great, considering how short handed they seemed to be!

Keiller Lounge
Hilton Grand Vacations at Craigendarroch, Braemar Rd, BallaterWe were staying in Ballater for a week at the end of September, and ate at the Keillor Brasserie 3 times. We holiday in Ballater twice a year and we’ve always been a bit disappointed in the restaurant choices we have made in the past. This year however, we really enjoyed our three evening meals in the Brasserie. The food was excellent and very well presented, and the staff had an excellent customer service approach, and were all very helpful, friendly and efficient. There was a very good atmosphere in the restaurant, and the prices for the choice and quality of the food on the menu, were very reasonable. We will certainly visit the Brasserie again, when we’re next in Ballater, and can certainly recommend it to anyone spending time in this lovely village.

Bridge House Cafe
Bridge St, BallaterWe stayed in Birkhall for 5 days and managed two visits to the restaurant. On both occasions, we had a friendly welcome. Excellent service with great custom service. We felt the service was attentive. The food was excellent on both occasions, fresh local produce and well cooked. The coffee we ordered were hot and better made than Starbucks hit and miss. We will return to Ballater in 2024 and will certainly visit again. I don't leave reviews often at all but felt the service we received deserved one.
