It is tradition that we eat at Hall & Woodhouse on Christmas Day. We particularly choose H&W because the menu is good for my children compared to other places, but I was a bit apprehensive this year due to the consistently bad reviews, and the fact last year it was just ‘ok’ and cold as heating had broke . I know you can't expect much for set Xmas dinners for staff parties, but this was less than average. The turkey was dry as dust and the giant Yorkshire pudding was so leathery it was nearly impossible to cut into, let alone eat. Very mean on the pesto sauce which accompanied the arancini starters. The dessert was lovely, though tiny (lemon tart with fruits) The restaurant itself has a magnificent interior and the waiting staff were fabulous.

This spot is great for drinks and has great decor and atmosphere. As a group of 8 on a christmas market saturday evening with no booking we were very happy to be able to get some food at Hall and Woodhouse. Food was fine, no thrills and i would say pretty overpriced for what we got - average at best. Good for us in a pinch but wouldnt recommend for a planned night out. Would return just for drinks though.
