The Grouse Inn
Carrog, CorwenMy family and I have enjoyed a week away in Corwen, North Wales, visiting a number of local attractions. The natural beauty of the landscape in this locale is something I have really enjoyed and will continue to do so with wonder memories of our brief stay.
On the eve of our final day, we decided to remain fairly local to our delightful holiday let and eat out. With the River Dee on a few metres from its doorstep, The Grouse Inn had an immediate appeal, and dog friendly, too.
In light of the fact we were a party of eight people, we phoned and reserved a table and were pleased the staff were able to accommodate us at relatively short notice. We were able to park in the pub grounds with easy access to the main bar and restaurant.
We were shown to our table and within a few minutes ordered drinks. The food menu provided a broad selection of meals and catered for the more fussy younger members of our family.
We ordered a selection of meals including; Chicken Curry, Steak and Stout Pie, Chicken and Leak Pie, Jacket Potato. The children were also well catered for with chunky chips, Sweet Potato fries and thick slices of garlic bread. It was evident within a couple of mouthfuls our that the food was freshly prepared and with a healthy quantity of good quality meat within our adult dishes. I enjoyed a few of the chunky chips and a slice of garlic bread, which was very tasty, too. Only one of our party had room for dessert, which looked and apparently tasted lovely.
The entire experience at The Grouse Inn, including a ten minute walk around the bank of The River Dee was very enjoyable and very good valid for money. In the event we are able to return at some future, I am in no doubt that The Grouse Inn will feature in our plans. We'll done team, and thank you!

Yum Yums
1 London Rd, CorwenLovely place, friendly people but I advise to avoid the soft ice cream. Not nice, edible but very strange. It cannot be true soft ice cream, must be some kind of alternative product. I should have been warned, when the shop person said they'd not sold one before us, and it was real ice cream weather!

The Berwyn Arms
Glyndyfrdwy, CorwenA comfortable spot in a beautiful location. This place is an ideal place to stop if you're touring on Motorbike. I didn't ask, but given that our wardrobe had shelving that was suspiciously perfectly sized to take helmets, I'd guess they know their market pretty well.

Caffi Treferwyn
Bridge St, CorwenHad breakfast this morning. Staff were lovely and inviting. Ordered breakfast with tea - with fried bread and black Pudding. Absolutely amazing. So delicious using local produce. To be honest - one of the tastiest breakfasts I've ever experienced and as a retired coach driver, I've had quite a few breakfasts in my career. Not too expensive either. Full breakfast with a mug of tea for under 7 quid. Fabulous !!!

The Royal Oak
London Rd, CorwenA lovely little classic pub with a friendly landlord and nice, chatty locals. They had a dart board and a brilliant vinyl jukebox, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area on the weekend (I think they only open Friday to Monday)

China Garden
The Square, CorwenWe were so pleasantly surprised with the flavours, the food was tasty and all the ingredients were fresh! The salt&pepper chips were so well-spiced and the prawn balls were fresh, not oily and had a fluffy texture inside. Also liked the flavour of the curry sauce, and the chow mein was good. Happy to have found this place, thank you!!

Corwen Kebab House
A5, CorwenVery good kebab, seen some excellent reviews, so I thought we would give it a try.
Mega amount of meat!! I ended up using the pitta it came with and 2 more wraps, so great value for money and the chicken tasted amazing!

A5, CorwenGreat food, a little pricey, but it's now a family tradition to break up the journey. Good seating and the buzzer system means your not stood waiting for food.
