King Brychan

Went for a late birthday meal with family today, the service was amazing, food was delicious and hot and served quickly, nice warm friendly atmosphere, the staff are amazing, Richard went above and beyond making my day extra special by singing Happy Birthday ? to me ?, Richard also made sure baby Albie was catered for. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Frankie & Benny's

I havnt visited Frankie and bennys for a long time, it was a spur of the moment decision to take my mum and my 6yr old son there, so turned up with no booking on Mother’s Day ? . The manager was fantastic, it was busy and she asked us to wait at the bar and she found us a table within 10 minutes. My son loved the malteaser milkshake as did I.
The food was very tasty and portions were great. I’m sure our server was Sophie, who was wonderful, she was prompt and efficient, knowledgeable of the menu and keen to give recommendations, my son was indecisive on his dessert and she was quick to offer him alternatives, and he loved the jelly and fruit.
5 star overall from me and I shall be returning again, thanks.

Busy Bee Fish Bar & Cafe

We stopped in for a bite to eat with the family, and it was a hit. Delicious food, friendly service, large portions, and a reasonable price. The coleslaw is world-class, delicious. Very nice and pleasant, I recommend it 100%. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely stop by.

The New Crown

Just been to The New Crown in Merthyr Tydfil with my family for lunch and we had a fantastic time.\n\nI started with the Bruschetta, which was absolutely delicious and came in a very generous portion. For my main, I went for what the menu called “adult chicken nuggets” – essentially battered chicken breast cubes – and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The real standout for me, though, were the chunky chips, which were some of the best I’ve had in a long time! I washed it all down with a pint of cranberry juice.\n\nAround the table, we also had a mixed grill, belly pork, and a corned beef pie (with chicken soup to start), and everyone was really impressed with their meals.\n\nThe decor is beautiful – a lovely bistro-style feel – and the waitresses were excellent, friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better.\n\nAll in all, we had a brilliant time and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

Tasty, healthy food in an unexpected location. We had 2 large bowls and they were great value as they really filled us up.

The bowls were quite sauce heavy to add flavour, so you could ask them to go lighter on the sauce if you wanted to taste more of the other ingredients.

Pentrebach House Table Table

We went for a birthday meal, my husband had the burger and I had the beef and ale pie, and everything was absolutely lush, waiting time wasn't long at all, and was great value for money even without the voucher we had. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service from our waitress Elizabeth, was great. Thank you very much. 10/10.

Mogsy Belle Ice Cream Parlour

Amazing desserts! Only complaint is the same tub was used for all toppings which is cross contamination as my little bother is allergic to all nuts! And a failure to ask is when served ☺️

Pizza Hut Restaurants

Fantastic time at this hut. The staff were all super helpful and friendly, plus the manager was definitely leading his team. Great job keeping fresh food out and salad bar topped up. Definitely recommend.

Extremely polite staff when ordering and the most delicious food I’ve tasted and very cheap and very fast delivery to! Definitely be ordering again very soon! If I could give more stars then I would definitely worth more than 5 stars!

Ordered 5 takeaway Afternoon teas ...absolutely lovely...really good selection of fresh tasting sandwiches , a mixture of savouries,scones and sweet treats as well as being beautifully boxed with cutlery and napkin.A little sprig of rosemary on top of each box which we used as table decorations

Nice Greggs with small seating area. Very busy store though so expect longer waits than average for this store compared to other ones. Usually several staff on tills so quick as can be expected for footfall it gets.

King Kebab

I orders the king kebab special yesterday didn’t manage to eat the kebabs as the pizza n chips was soo good … just warmed it up and it was still the best kebab ever … both my kids that live close order the king special … it definitely feeds a family of 4 … I also work for a large company in Newport and they now order as well because I’ve bigged them up .. they are so good .. never had a bad meal …

Really good chips and kebabs. Wonderful staff as well! You can order online or you can order on just eat. I have never had a bad meal here. Always early, whenever I have had food from here, it is always great.best chicken kebab I have had ever. Really love the food and really well priced. I love this little gem in Merthyr Tydfil.

Aberglais Inn

Just want to say a huge thank you! It was my birthday yesterday and my husband had booked a meal in Frankie and bennies cause of our young children. They told us ten minutes before the booking that the gas had leaked. I phoned yourselves and you could not have done enough! You fitted 12 of us in and the girl who served us was the nicest person ever! :) Food was stunning and the staff are so lovely and welcoming! My fav place to have a meal thank you again ❤️❤️

The Butchers Arms Bunkhouse and Brewpub

First visit to the butchers Arms today but certainly won’t be the last. We received a lovely warm welcome and our two miniature dachshunds were made to feel at home with some special treats. The Sunday dinner we had was amazing and cooked to perfection. Already planning our next visit.

Twyn Fish Bar

A broad statement here, but possibly the best chips in Merthyr.
Also, if you're gluten intolerant (celiac), then the chips are cooked in a separate fryer with an oil that is gluten free.

Been going to this family run restaurant for most of my life, for years my nan and Grampa been going and has taken all the grandchildren and now we've all grown up and we now take our own children here. Food is always lovely and fresh, ahseek and Ahad can't do enough to make your experience a good one. We had a delivery last night and my burger was wrong. I phoned the kebab house and straight away they apologised and within half an hour a brand new burger was sent out to me no questions asked.\nVery impressed with this service. Highly recommend

Chicken dinner with salad and some chilli sauce. Delicious. Friendly service from the guys behind the counter too. \nLots of kebab so could have probably done with another pitta bread too. It was only a small dinner too - so generous portions.

I ordered the chicken korma with peshwari naan and spicy chips, and everything was spot on. The korma was very nice and flavorful with tender chicken, the naan was soft and fresh, and the spicy chips had a nice kick without being too much. Delivery was really quick and the food arrived hot, which made it even better. I’d definitely order this again.

Rhydycar Harvester

I had the tomahawk pork and quarter chicken meal which was absolutely gorgeous, so moist and soooo tasty ! My server Wayne had recommended this meal and it did not disappoint !\n I bought two of the bottles of Harvester sauce, which i love, the kicking one to take home from Wayne, who made the suggestion to buy two bottles of the sauce as it would be cheaper than getting just one as i buy a bottle each time i visit Harvester. Thank you Wayne for your help today , hope to visit again soon we had a great day out at merthyr Harvester and im definitely having the tomahawk pork steak again next time !!

We had 2 chicken burgers and a mixed kebab the burgers where massive filled us up also they where lovely would recommend, the kebab is really nice also I’d suggest one or the other cause the burger sizes are massive but all in all will order again and would highly recommend

Proper satisfying Chinese food with friendly service.Been doing some hiking for a couple of days and worked up a real craving for some decent Chinese food. Magic wok did not disappoint.Just happen to walk past on my way to the hotel. Ordered a Szechuan Chicken and egg fried rice. The chicken was tender and juicy. Flavours were rich and delicious with decent spice without relying on excessive salt and oil. Fried rice was also very tasty without being too oily or too dry,Both the lady at the front and chef were super friendly, they even helped me charge my phone while I waited for my food (thanks again)!If you got the craving for some decent Chinese food in Merthyr or just want a good satisfying meal after a long day give this place a go.

Had a chip roll with curry sauce absolutely delicious! Highly recommended to visit a real traditional fish shop by British people for a chance. Even offered me a receipt extremely reasonable priced , if this fish shop can do it at these prices why aren’t others doing the same?

Llwyn Yr Eos Inn

A rustic, welcoming pub on the Taff trail. Has outside seating and free WiFi. Doesn't accept cards though, cash only, but the drinks are relatively cheap. Good views of surrounding fields and animals.

I don't do Indian food normally but friends asked me to join them. I am so glad I did. The food was absolutely amazing and even though it was busy the food was quite quick being served. I'll give this 5 stars ?

Ordered from here last week as usual Chinese was closed. I wasn't disappointed, food was lovely, staff were very friendly and get free food/drink if spending over certain amount. Would happily order again.

The Station Hotel Cefn

Excellent pub, friendly welcome from all the staff. Their knowledge of the local area was fantastic and we were delighted to find such a fabulous watering hole after a beautiful meander through some of this area’s ancient industrial past. One special attraction was the book area where you could pick up a book by the fire and relax.We would definitely recommend and will visit again when in the area. Friends from Cardiff - look forward to seeing you again!

We're a family from USA, we stopped here for lunch during a visit in Wales in 2023. This was a super neat & quaint cafe, made us feel at home. Good prices, too.
5 stars, would recommend.

Woodland Cafe

Wasn't open when we visited but has a huge log burner . Menu looked varied and we went on special as I had read the coffee is highly recommended. We were disappointed it wasn't serving. Staff were cleaning and doing prep. We will go back when it's openParking: A bit hilly but then it iw up in the forestry and as such was uneven. Steps up to cafe . Plenty of parking available

I have been having food from here for many years, I am quite fussy when it comes to which takeaways to go for but this one has never let me down. I have always enjoyed my food from here and love that the curry has a slight kick, which is rare around here. Highly recommend!!

Just went to this cafe. Holy s^%t. Set us up for a drive back to Scotland. Awesome. breakfast roll was literally a plate of food in a roll. Brilliant. Thank you Denise and Rachel.

I never order from anywhere else Ho Wah for me is hands down the best Chinese takeaway in Merthyr food is always amazing friendly staff and bless the drivers they are out in all weather and they're always friendly 10 out of 10

Absolutely love this take away.
I would recommend the chicken and veg soup , prawn toast and then the meal deal which is chip butty with pork & chicken slices topped with curry sauce. We travel over the valley to eat from here. Well worth it

Needed food while in town and all the other cafe's closed at 4pm, so decided to give this place a try, from the moment we walked in we were greeted like old friends, and made to feel welcome.
The food options are a nice selection.
We were served very quickly, drinks came out fast, as well as out food orderd. The entire process took about 8 - 10 minutes.
The food is super fresh.

Morlais Tavern

This is a nice pub with outdoor seating. They held a memorial for my uncle last Friday, and they did him proud. Thanks to all at the Morlais for this special day.

I had a lovely vegan curry on jacket potato from here while I was on jury service. It was a very reasonable price and very tasty. The guy the runs it/owns it is a vegan too so you know they know what they are doing. The rest of the offerings looked really nice and it was quite busy, so the rest of the food must be quite good. I will definitely go back if I'm ever in merthyr for anything again.
