The Estuary Bistro
Main St, Grange-over-SandsMy wife, 10 year old son and I ate in the Estuary on Saturday evening. The staff were so busy, yet so extremely good with their service. The guys spent time, chatting with our son, we cant praise them enough. I have got to say, that food was the best we have had in a very long time, all fresh, locally sourced and cooked to perfection!
Thanks to everyone at the Estuary Bistro, for providing a first class service, to my family and I.

L'Enclume

When you arrive, you call from the car park to find where you're staying. A brief five minute walk through the lovely town and you're met by the first member of staff. They're all on happy pills. Keen to know how your day was, is this a special occasion, have you managed to see the town and so on.
We were in a superior room. Very nice and much quieter than you'd expect being next to a road. Slippers, dressing gowns, vanity kits, cookies, apples and much more are sat waiting for you.
Take your time having a wander round the town - it's small, but interesting.
A quick change and then off to dinner. Lots of happy people bringing you cutlery, food, drink, more cutlery, more food and the procession carries out for a few hours. The dining room is cosy without being claustrophobic, with tables set up so you can people watch or view dish after dish come out. The taster menu is an experience with a huge variety of ingredients used. Yes, google did come in useful to work out what some of it was. The happy people also answered any questions you had. Off to bed with our tummies super content and full to the brim.
A quick two minute walk to breakfast in the morning. More happy people wanting to look after you. No rush. Take your time. Enjoy the food.
We spent the rest of the day walking in the area, praying the bathroom scale gods would be kind to us at the start of the working week.

Thyme Out Coffee House & Restaurant
Devonshire House, Main St, Grange-over-SandsWe ran in here as it was pouring down and so glad we did. Staff were so friendly and made a fuss of my dog who was chilled off by the rain. The food was lovely and they packed what we couldn’t up. A great find!

1 Ingwell house, Main St, Grange-over-SandsReally great little chocolate shop, owners are lovely and the chocolate is really tasty! Coffee is great and it has a little cafe with sweet treats to munch on. Very fond of the chocolate waffles!
Huge selection of truffles and various styles of chocolate so definitely pop in and get something.

Yew Tree Barn Low Newton Nr Cartmel, Grange-over-SandsWell worth a visit even if it's just to browse the barns. A host of antiques and other wares also the cafe is worth stopping by at. Good food and a selection of cakes. A good ambient atmosphere.

Staff are extremely hard workig as it is a busy place with dine ins and take aways.
However slways a warm welcome and make you feel special. Food is plentiful and good.

Main St, Grange-over-SandsFood was pretty good! I asked for an extra meat in my dish and the owner rolled his at me. Then asked for a portion of curry sauce and the eyes rolled yet again! Food was great, but slightly disappointed in the prawns having their shells on in a fried rice dish.

I provided 4 stars because they advertised this to be a 6 course meal, but 3 of the 6 courses were just the amuse-bouche (or snacks as they call them), and not real courses. That left me with the feeling it was a bit expensive.

Strawberry Bank, Grange-over-SandsWe recently stayed here for a 50th wedding anniversary celebration. It couldn't have been more perfect, from the location with its breathtaking views, friendly staff, warm atmosphere, great food and drinks and especially the fact they make dogs so welcome too. The rooms were beautiful, clean and just a joy to be in.
The waitress blew my mind by remembering all of our meal orders (8 in total) for dinner without writing it down! The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection.
In the morning we had breakfast which was gorgeous. A selection of cereals, croissants, juices and then a cooked breakfast. We had 2 dogs with us and they were given the option to have a sausage for breakfast, which was cut up and in a bowl each.
All in all a perfect get away. We would all highly recommend visiting, especially for a nights stay.

Uplands Inn Cartmel
Haggs Ln, Cartmel, Grange-over-SandsLovely pub with stunning views from the beer garden. Staff and locals made us feel very welcome. It was Bingo night, which was good fun, but meant the menu was limited. The chicken in the basket and pizza were excellent though. Would definitely come again.

1&2 Yewbarrow Terrace, Station Square, Grange-over-SandsCalled in for some lunch. I had Fish and chips and my wife had a bowl of tomato soup followed by a strawberry tart.
We both enjoyed our choices, my fish in particular was fresh and cooked to perfection. Will certainly return when back in the area.

The Coffee Pot Cafe with Bayviews
18 Main St, Grange-over-SandsThe service and atmosphere were really good. Dog friendly too. The food is a mix of traditional british dishes and philippian. Ordered the chicken curry, adobo pork and spicy chicken stripes, it was amazing. The toasties were well made aswell. They have products on shelves that can be bought also. Definitely a good place to eat while on holiday.

David the owner greeted us with a smile and hoped the birthday napkins were correct (mentioned online when we booked ?). Sat upstairs, lovely atmosphere and quirky decor. Made to feel very welcome.
Very good Unsworth ale?
Small plate menu, delicious, had two plates each so six in total. Followed by homemade Bischoff cheesecake and the best chocolate brownie in the world (both with cream and ice cream). Shout out to Kelly the chef, David her husband who made us very welcome and their daughter Lydia who served us. Our 17 year old loved it!!
