Lovely welcoming pub - Ours was a last minute visit after seeing a poster at a glamping site nearby. We had two small breakfasts and two sides for the kids who had already eaten. The young lady manning the whole of the front of house was warm welcoming and capable. She maintained that sometimes tricky balance of being present and available without hovering or being mithersome. The food was of good quality and commensurate with the price. A spontaneous trip, we were hungry on the way back from chesterfield.l and decided to give it a go. This family run, traditional pub is well with a visit, a hidden gem. I've not been for about 10 years as living in Matlock we usually just drive past. It's changed with a recent refurb but they kept the original features, beams and fireplaces etc so it's still kept the traditional Derbyshire village pub feel. Been a few times for Sunday lunch. Staff always happy to help and friendly.Food is beautiful. Tried the Pork and Chicken lunches.Not stay there yet but looking at a weekend break very soon.
