Fore St, WinkleighThe King’s Arms may just be the perfect country pub. For starters, it sits in a pretty Devon village and has a gorgeous thatch. Once inside, what marketing kinds call its ‘kerb appeal’ is confirmed, and then some.I visited for food on Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised to see it lively and full, as country pubs all seemed to be once upon a time. No wonder, because the stove was lit, the beams prettily made up with fairy lights, the beer was great, AND the food too!Service here was very, very, very good. The landlord took it on himself to replace my beer free of charge when he realised my pint had been poured from near the bottom of the cask. I’d already drunk half of it without any complaints, but he wanted my drink to be perfect!The waitress too, upon seeing I’d drunk from a handle glass, came over to ensure I had the same for my next pint. In fact, the two young ladies who served us as waitresses were both lovely, friendly, and wonderful.The food was delicious. Jerk chicken wings and prawn jambalaya for me, prawn arancini and roasted lamb breast for my partner. I was going to wash it down with red wine but the landlord keeps such a good cellar that I remained with his beer.Finally, there are apparently ghosts here, which is reason enough to return in the summer, when my YouTube channel featuring a haunted pub crawl will commence.It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!

The Tallet Cafe
Hatherleigh Rd, WinkleighThanks to Google we found this delightful little place.. All staff very polite, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast really lovely, superb coffee and the man serving was great and smelled lovely (unsure of the aftershave!)Highly recommended.Parking: Lots of room.

Exeter Rd, WinkleighWhat an incredibly warm welcome you get at Catkin Blooms - a fabulous one-stop-hits-all kind of place: it is a coffee shop, florist, gift shop and even has a small deli range that will provide plentifully for your lunch. Whilst located in a renovated automotive garage, which gives it a quirky feel, it is decorated in a manner that is both beautiful and relaxing. Old Chesterfields and handmade wooden tables provide the perfect space for sitting and enjoying delicious coffee and cakes, whilst the array of flowers and distant Dartmoor views provide a beautiful backdrop. Here, not only do you get to relax but you can leave with all the birthday gifts you need that month: there's something for everyone. The challenging part is not keeping it for yourself!Vegetarian options: Even had vegan marshmallows for hot chocolate!Dietary restrictions: Alternative milks, vegetarian options

South St, WinkleighAll round amazing!! Lovely atmosphere with brilliant owners and lush food! The chicken curry, chicken burgers, homemade fish & chips, everything is so tasty!Wonderful hot chocolates with all the trimmings too and really reasonably priced!100% reccomned a visit!

The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak, The Square, Dolton, WinkleighWe use the pubs back room for choir practice and love the atmosphere.Staff are very friendly and all in all this pub represents everything that is expected of a quintessential village Inn.I have not eaten here yet, but I am told it's good.Parking: Parking for about 20 cars, with a village car park a short walk away

Jonesy's Catering 1A Gerrydown Industrial Estate The Old Airfield, WinkleighMade good use of the new evening takeaway service Friday Night.Order ready spot on time.Two lovely burgers and some loaded fries, all tasted amazing, good portion size and really great value for money.Will definitely be using again.Keep up the great work ?
