Chulmleigh Bakery
East St, ChulmleighAn authentic small bakery with proper Devon pasties. We sought this establishment out when researching pasties in North Devon and travelled especially. We weren’t disappointed.
Steak pasties, meat & veg pasties, sausage rolls, jam doughnuts (loaded with jam), cream slices and a loaf of freshly sliced bread were all extremely tasty. We’d go out of our way to come here again without question.

The Earl of Portsmouth
The Square, Chawleigh, ChulmleighBrilliant village pub. We had Sunday lunch yesterday. Fabulous. Such large portions beautifully cooked meat choice. Very generous dishes of roast potatoes and at least six different perfectly cooked vegetables. We will certainly be back.

Chulmleigh Tandoori Indian Restaurant & Takeaway ..
Fore St, ChulmleighCan’t really comment on atmosphere as we did a quick stop by for a take away on our way through Chulmleigh.
However if I could give this takeaway 10 out of 5 stars I would. We are generally quite particular with our takeaways as we love to cook at home and love Indian food/cook it well - so we recognise a poor takeaway when we see one!
This was beyond divine. We were pleasantly surprised to see such a remote village takeaway promoting a vegan menu available on their menu. When we asked in the restaurant the owner simply claimed ‘choose what you would like and we make it vegan’ - so I thoroughly enjoyed my first vegetable korma in years with soya cream instead of dairy cream! It was delicious x 10. The garlic rice and stuffed paratha were mouthwatering and my mum loved her vegetable balti too full of a huge range of veggies. Also ordered were prawn puri’s, prawn tikka masala, onion bhajis and a tandoori mixed grill - we all cleared our plates but had leftovers for breakfast! We’ve said we definitely want to squeeze in another order from here before we go home at the end of the week.
Thank you for a delicious meal - if you’re looking for somewhere local to eat, don’t skip on this place!

The Red Lion
East St, ChulmleighLovely evening with a group of friends, we didn’t book but 7 of us turned up for food and they accommodated us well! Bar service worked well for us all, food was reasonably priced and plentiful - though the hand rolled garlic bread was far from hand rolled and a bit of a let down when the rest of the meals were really good!
Great value and good atmosphere. Plenty of drink options, open fireplace, lots of seating & dog friendly!
