Oastbrook Estate
Junction Rd, Bodiam, RobertsbridgeMy boyfriend and I stayed for 1 night on the 31st August in the Glamping tents to celebrate my birthday which included the wine tour.
Pros: The surroundings of the vineyard were beautiful and the Glamping tents were of a good standard with excellent bathroom facilities. I was impressed by how professional Nick was throughout our stay - very clear and knowledge and loved the morning breakfast drop off!
Cons - the check in to our Glamping tents was not the smoothest. We had finished the wine tour and asked America if we were able to check in but we felt it came across as an inconvenient ask at the time and was told to find Gaby whom we hadn’t met before. We went away wandered around and returned and waited for a while as no one was able to assist.
We were then eventually shown to our tent where we were staying but unfortunately there were very little niceties and just a list of what we weren’t allowed to do which wasn’t the warmest welcome to our stay.
It also became apparent that Charcoal was not included for the BBQ so a word of note to others staying. This would have been nice to know about prior to staying and would have also been a nice throw in considering the price of the tents.
With regards to the wine tour - the wine tasting with Nick was excellent and wonderful wines though during the wine tour itself through the vineyard there was a lot of repetition and swearing which came as a bit of a surprise.
My boyfriend also mentioned that I was gluten and dairy free of which they said they can only do if available. Given my intolerance this is not a negotiable. In the end I was kindly provided with a gluten and dairy free breakfast which was great but clearer communication up front would have been appreciated and knowing that I could be accommodated for.
All in all a nice experience, for me a few areas around communication can be worked on in my opinion especially when celebrating my birthday these aspects make a difference.

Ostrich Hotel
Station Rd, RobertsbridgePopped in for lunch today, bit apprehensive as road closed & didn't look open but greeted warmly by barmaid & friendly locals. Pub is very old fashioned but somehow adds to the charm, garden lovely on a hot day & couldn't fault the food. Basic pub grub but tasty & reasonable & a good pint. A good experience & would love to try the rooms in such an old building.

New Spice Restaurant & Takeaway
13 High St, RobertsbridgeWe were lucky to get a table for eight without reservation at this small but cosy restaurant after a hiking walk. The service was polite and friendly. While my friends ordered meat meal I and my partner went for vegetarian and vegan. Everyone liked the food, the portions were big and freshly prepared. The restaurant offers many vegan and vegetarian options. I can recommend lentil dal, the best I’ve ever ate.
