We couldn't ask for any dessert because they also offered us some starters while we were waiting for our dishes, and we were so full! 70 Ravensdale, Great Clacton, Clacton-on-SeaMy first surprise at Skinners was discovering they cook in beef dripping, my favourite medium. The second was biting into the best chips I’ve had across 150 fish and chip shop reviews; they were incredible. The large cod lived up to its name, wrapped in crisp, flavoursome batter, while the mushy peas were spot on, thick enough for the fork yet smooth enough to mingle with the fish and chips.
The staff were smartly presented, polite, and full of smiles, and the shop itself was spotless, tidy, and well designed. All in all, I’ll be back.

What started off as a “we’ll just try this one as something new” turned into something we now couldn’t live without. Everything is always made so fresh and tasty, they’ve always got an amazing selection of different food to suit a whole range of people, and all of the delivery drivers are super friendly! My recommendation would be the bacon and Brie panini with lettuce and mayo ?

41 Rosemary Rd, Clacton-on-SeaLooking around Clacton-on-Sea for a quiet restaurant during peak holiday season wasn't easy until we found the Regency Cottage on a backstreet. From the outside, my wife and I assumed it was a takeaway, but on closer inspection it is a reasonably spacious restaurant with seating available.
Being partially hard of hearing, I cannot cope with excessive noise, so asked the manager for a quiet corner which he was able to provide.
The Indian restaurant has an extensive menu offering a wide variety of dishes for every taste - from the mild to the very hot!
There is also a small selection of English dishes.
Beers, wines, other alcohols, beverages and soft drinks are also available.
As the evening progressed, so the restaurant filled up, showing its popularity. Throughout, service was fast and friendly.
There was no pressure to leave and the cost of dinner for two including wine was just £50.00. A price we'll worth paying for quality food.
Apart from being a restaurant, The Regency Cottage also offers a takeaway service.

Thorpe Rd, Weeley, Clacton-on-SeaWe came as a table of two for lunch today. The welcome on arrival was very friendly and we were shown to our table by another member of staff, again very friendly and welcoming.
The menu choices were very good. We both opted for the roasts, one beef one pork. Food presentation was excellent and the quality and taste of it all was simply perfect.
We were looked after really well by various members of staff who were all so friendly.
No desserts, which was a tough decision as the choice was exceptional! Just ordered cheese and biscuits which did not disappoint... lovely choice of cheeses and pickles.
We will certainly be back!

It promptly arrived and was one of the best fish and chips meals I've ever had. The fish batter was light and crispy, the fish moist and flakey. The chips were nice and big and cooked perfectly. The overall price of the meal was very reasonable for the 4 of us. We were served by a lovely gentleman during our meal, who was a pleasure to engage with.
I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back the next time we are in the area

23 Pallister Rd, Clacton-on-SeaDavey's was a recommendation to me and I'm so glad I took it up, the restaurant wasnt even half full but there was a lovely atmosphere, it was a proper local restaurant where people knew eachother and chatted freely.
We arrived about 11, found a table and looked at the menu, it's was breakfast for us, I had the English style breakfast with bubble and squeak with added toast with extra tinned tomatoes, my favourite! I haven't had bubble and squeak in years! My wife had Eggs Benedict.
Both came out pretty quickly, cooked fresh and steaming hot, the butter hadn't even full melted it was so fresh. It tasted great, was very filling and kept me full until dinner time.
With many cafes in Clacton, this place is a Gem! I'd recommend it to anyone and is somewhere I'd definitely come back on my next visit.

Such a warm and friendly welcome, we couldn't have been more accommodated, an absolutely first class place and the Prosecco was served in the most wonderful flute, we will certainly be back, our only regret is that we were only passing by. This is highly recommended, one of the last proper pubs, we loved it, hopefully we can pop in next week as we are down this way. Clacton-on-SeaFolks always ask us about Curry Goat & Jamaican Rice & "Peas". Well THIS is the place to go for Jamaican food. I ordered the curry goat and jerk chicken and it is properly on point. When you want Jamaican food, go to Rosie's Kabin. And they do Traditional English roast dinners every day. Great food here. You gotta eat it to see how good it is.

Pier Gap, Clacton-on-SeaLove this old fashioned cafe in Clacton's best location. The staff are amazing, especially the older lady who works incredibly hard. They stock a nice range of products and the prices are reasonable.

37 Frinton Rd, Holland-on-Sea, Clacton-on-Seafamily run Chinese takeaway. I only had a small order of two pancake rolls, prawn balls, chowmein and pork ribs total cost £20.00. The building is not very inspiring and a bit dates but the food was nice and fresh cooked as you would expect. One nice difference was that the batter was not greasy and the chowmein vegetables still had some crunch, looking at the menu the ribs seem expensive but they are massive and melt in your mouth. Free pack of prawn crackers thrown in and everything got eaten and was easily enough for two people. only a four as I could not see a hygiene rating and the building a bit run down. If I was rating on the food alone it would have been 4.5.

1 Marine Parade E, Clacton-on-SeaThis wetherspoon gets a bad rap from alot of people, probably people who have never drank in there, the beer is always in good condition, the staff are very professional and deal with issues quickly, there was an older couple in the night we where who where very loud and abusive but the duty manager was straight in to sort them out, we had a really good night out and would return any time.

High St, Thorpe-le-Soken, Clacton-on-SeaWonderful bar clean atmospheric, food was 1st class. And then you meet Harry good old south london man with bants. Entertained us through the entire meal. A proper geezer. I would highly recommend this place.

We couldn't ask for any dessert because they also offered us some starters while we were waiting for our dishes, and we were so full! But we had some cocktails (they have really interesting drinks on their menu)

23 Pallister Rd, Clacton-on-SeaDavey's was a recommendation to me and I'm so glad I took it up, the restaurant wasnt even half full but there was a lovely atmosphere, it was a proper local restaurant where people knew eachother and chatted freely.
We arrived about 11, found a table and looked at the menu, it's was breakfast for us, I had the English style breakfast with bubble and squeak with added toast with extra tinned tomatoes, my favourite! I haven't had bubble and squeak in years! My wife had Eggs Benedict.
Both came out pretty quickly, cooked fresh and steaming hot, the butter hadn't even full melted it was so fresh. It tasted great, was very filling and kept me full until dinner time.
With many cafes in Clacton, this place is a Gem! I'd recommend it to anyone and is somewhere I'd definitely come back on my next visit.

145 Jaywick Ln, Clacton-on-SeaWe had the roast dinner on Sunday at 3pm, we didn't have a choice of all the meats as it was later in the day, but was very happy with our choice of turkey. The food was well cooked and plentiful with an extra side of veg. The staff were friendly and service was great. Will definately be back for some more.

1-3 St John's Rd, Great Clacton, Clacton-on-SeaAnother lovely meal at Thai Vintage last night. Excellent food and efficient service from these lovely Thai ladies. They always go the extra mile to make you feel special and valued even to opening the door to say thank you and goodnight as you leave.

The Black Boy, Weeley
Thorpe Rd, Weeley, Clacton-on-SeaWe came as a table of two for lunch today. The welcome on arrival was very friendly and we were shown to our table by another member of staff, again very friendly and welcoming.
The menu choices were very good. We both opted for the roasts, one beef one pork. Food presentation was excellent and the quality and taste of it all was simply perfect.
We were looked after really well by various members of staff who were all so friendly.
No desserts, which was a tough decision as the choice was exceptional! Just ordered cheese and biscuits which did not disappoint... lovely choice of cheeses and pickles.
We will certainly be back!

11 Pallister Rd, Clacton-on-SeaMe, my partner and our daughter came to try the Sunday lunch, Immediately greeted by very pleasant staff. who offered us a choice of tables and took our drinks order. We ordered the jerk roast, the lamb roast and a child’s roast. which was all absolutely lovely, freshly cooked , full of flavour and a very large portions . We also tried eve trifles and the biscoff cheesecake. We left feeling very full and happy. Will definitely go back

121 Pier Ave, Clacton-on-SeaThe Warwick Arms was an excellent choice for my dad and step mum’s wedding on Saturday 5th July 2025. The space accommodates around 60 guests comfortably, with room to dance! The co-owner, Harry, was excellent from the initial booking, to the numerous questions about decorations and schedule. I’m not sure when he sleeps! We arrived on the day to decorate, to find that he had already set up the tables, with table cloths, table runners, chair covers and he’d added all the chair sashes. He was approachable, friendly, helpful and proactive throughout. The food was amazing (the guests went mad over the mini burgers in particular) and there was plenty of it, for the size of the wedding party. The DJ kept the floor filled, adding his own little touches during the speeches and encouraging the guests to let their hair down on the dance floor. A random gate crasher was dealt with discreetly and calmly by staff. The atmosphere was relaxed, joyful and fun. Harry cleaned up the next morning, packing up anything the bride and groom were taking back home. I would recommend this pub to host an event, based on the staff alone, but it’s also a well-situated venue, close to accommodation and with adequate parking spaces on site. We all had a lovely time and look forward to popping in for drinks in the future!

24 Broadway, Jaywick, Clacton-on-SeaWow, what an unexpected pleasure, we stopped for one drink and didn't want to leave! Such a warm and friendly welcome, we couldn't have been more accommodated, an absolutely first class place and the Prosecco was served in the most wonderful flute, we will certainly be back, our only regret is that we were only passing by. This is highly recommended, one of the last proper pubs, we loved it, hopefully we can pop in next week as we are down this way. Thank you so much to Davina and the other lovely lady and the gentleman who first showed us in x Jackie and the grumpy one!

Beach Rd, Jaywick, St. Osyth, Clacton-on-SeaI stopped here for breakfast before setting of on coast walk. The small breakfast was tasty, fresh and great value. Friendly welcoming waitress. Seems to be a well run traditional English cafe. I'll certainly be back.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is level acces from the parking but the cafe is densly furnished with tables. I imagine they would find space if you wanted to get your wheelchair in.

Clacton-on-SeaFolks always ask us about Curry Goat & Jamaican Rice & "Peas". Well THIS is the place to go for Jamaican food. I ordered the curry goat and jerk chicken and it is properly on point. When you want Jamaican food, go to Rosie's Kabin. And they do Traditional English roast dinners every day. Great food here. You gotta eat it to see how good it is.

3 West Ave, Clacton-on-SeaWhat an amazing find!! We (family of 4) popped in on Saturday night and so glad we did! We sat in the dining area at the back and waited for our food to be cooked. It promptly arrived and was one of the best fish and chips meals I've ever had. The fish batter was light and crispy, the fish moist and flakey. The chips were nice and big and cooked perfectly. The overall price of the meal was very reasonable for the 4 of us. We were served by a lovely gentleman during our meal, who was a pleasure to engage with.
I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back the next time we are in the area
